Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

T Layoff

Working for T is a joke, engineers "work from home" Washington/Bothell/Woodinville area. Collecting high salaries for really doing much of nothing all day. Gaming/Social networking, sleeping, really whatever they want. The TEAM backs each other up and covers for each other, so no one cares. High paid freedom. Requirement - go to office once a month, so it shows you've used your badge and actively working, stay logged in on the platform, so it records you are "working". CUT THESE PEOPLE
stop wasting money on those that dont work, pay those that do! This is why everything cost so much, excess spending on wages and leases.

Too easy, its a cake walk for most. Work around it daily.
NDE/Tech Ops have it made in my area PNW. They wont be on the chopping block, lead covers for all, who cover for him, it's disgusting. Write up a bunch of fluff for their performance reviews/Bonus Checks, blah, blah, blah.

Personally I think someone's character and integrity will be the same at office or home. The local engineers that work from home that had a good reputation at office still have good reputation with field techs... and engineers that were thought of as cr---y by field are still thought of as cr---y. WFH does seem to amplify the cr---y engineers making them crappier but seems to impact good engineers little. Same can be said for techs... OP, I met all know the good techs and bad techs in your organization and I bet that does not change much on days that your Network Manager is off and you have a tech cover for him...

The op is on point I work in the PNW and mobility is a mess most managers and admins that work from home do not answer the phone or respond to emails in the same day. My manager has more admin support staff than techs..

“Some weeks I put in 80-100+ hrs.” Why do you do this? There is no benefit. Live your life.

I Laughed all the way through these posts- former engineer, remind me how well you can take a blank sheet of paper and turn it into a highly performing complex fiber network interfaced with anything our customers wanted..?
I'm laughing all the way to the bank right now..keep it coming in.

Sounds like you will be laid off soon and will need to find something new to cry about. I hear McDonald's is looking for people who have no skills other than crying about others.

WFH employee here in tech. Some weeks I put in 80-100+ hrs. No overtime or comp days. Some weeks we are waiting on the next big ramp and it can be slow. That usually only last a week or two at most, then it’s 3-4 weeks no days off and running hard. So tell me again who ain’t working? If I had to go to an office, no way I’d be able to work like that.

On the Mobility side, RAN ENG only review and approve a design. Turf contracts have suppliers doing the design work, so should not be a problem working from home. It can be exhausting clicking "Approve" on contractor POs'.
