Unfortunately, I don't know many people who are optimistic that the next year in this company will be at least a little better. Any thoughts?

You would think that the size of ATT and with its global presence, it would be able to secure a leader with a complete understanding of the business that could take this company to world class status! But each and every leader T has had over the last 35 years or so has been a joke making one disastrous decision after another! Nobody seems to be able to get it right, not one! It can't be that difficult, so why isn't this possible? The answer seems to elude T in a big way! I'm glad my days with T are closing in on retirement and I won't have to witness the carnage year after year!
It’s all an over rotation based on a perceived economic slowdown. I’m pretty sure we still do just fine during recessions. People don’t turn off their phone or internet as that’s kind of like needed. Maybe I don’t go buy a new phone, but do we really make that much money on devices? We just about give them away

Yes, Silicon Valley is getting hit hard with layoffs! Fortunately, ATT is not a tech company, it’s a communications behemoth! Will it endure layoffs, sure, most likely! I’m just not convinced it will be on the scale most employees expect it to be.
Most Tech companies are laying off folks. The question is going to be how many. It will really depend on how many decide to retire. After that number is known the rest will be taken through a surplus early 1st qtr. No MVOs anymore for most orgs. My guess is we will see a 10% reduction over all.
Hope is no strategy…planning for your next career is.

you want a free volunteer day
enjoy doing more work for the same pay
have less support -billing, ordering, installation, business customer direct support
enjoy a sub $20 stock price
want to hear about the "journey" in townhalls only to find out the company is changing directions AGAIN.

I've been asking that for 10+ years and it just gets worse. To answer your question... no, it will not. Take a look at your health benefits for 2023... they're already double from last year.
