Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Question for those who left

This is a question for those who either left on their own or were laid off and still visit this forum (I know I would for the sheer entertainment value): now that you've put some distance between yourself and Honeywell, is there one positive thing you can think of to say about the company? Anything that you miss or didn't hate while you were here? I know nobody regrets leaving, but I do wonder if people have things they can remember and say, "that was actually okay."

Recently left Aero SB. I can say I definitely do not miss the "Leadership" gang. Everything has gone down hill since the group has taken over.

I worked with HON more recently and left in 2 years due to all the reasons mentioned above. Don’t miss anything!

25 years and left 2 months ago. I now work with a lot more women (I’m female) and a lot more older engineers. Real diversity and I love it. Working at Honeywell is like a slow death of working overtime. Here I get paid more and do much more interesting work. The grass is so much more green! Only regret is, and this is a Big regret, that I didn’t leave earlier.

I cannot think of a single thing I miss about that hellish, soul crushing, meat grinder of a company.

I left HON (Aero) voluntarily after 5 years despite being a "young" band 4 employee - moved to a much smaller company and different industry. HON was willing to match the offer but I felt it's time to go. Now that over one year has passed - right I was.
The only thing I miss are the people but most of them left HON around the same time or even before I did anyway. I still have a couple of contacts who stayed and some of them now managed to climb even higher (knocking on executive level now). Sadly I cannot really consider them friends anymore. They got completely absorbed by corporate - on the odd chance of them finding time to grab a beer with you, they will only talk about work - end of quarter rush, leadership change, promotions, ISC disaster....same old same old. Sometimes I wonder - was I also just as pathetic? Hope not but it's hard to judge oneself objectively.

Like most others here I miss the old Honeywell, the one that existed before Allied Signal marched in and screwed everything up. The new company I don't miss at all, really. I do miss some of my coworkers.

PMT here. I loved the company, especially during tge days of Nance Dicciani and Andreas Kranvis. You were supported when you tried to do a good job. Then HPS and UOP management took over and tried to outDarius, Darius himself. The result speaks for itself.

It was a great place to learn and start a career. They reward and recognize talent and results but ability to move upward was a much slower process than other large companies. You know when you have stayed too long. Lots of great people work there but Honeywell demands a lot of its employees (travel, workload, meetings day/night, sometimes weekends, etc). Life moves too fast inside of Honeywell and on the outside as well. Keeping in touch becomes impossible as your worlds divert to separate paths. I’m glad I left but I’m also glad for my time there because it propelled me to a higher level in all facets most working professionals need and desire.

Awful place for women and minorities in sales. Stay away from the SPS division. Management is very arrogant and the entire division is ran by BULLIES.
PSS GM & Directors (his pets) are very unprofessional-yelling, belittling and disrespecting employees should never be acceptable. A very hostile and abusive environment for women, and no one (including HR) does anything about it.
Good employees get punished, while the executive pets get rewarded. Will NEVER go back!

I learned a lot, and the first 10 years were great. After that, I should have left long before I finally did. By the time I did, most of my coworkers had left and it had been toxic for a number of years. No, it’s not going to get better there.

I love my new job!

36 years in Areo. I worked on some awesome projects / programs with some great folks. Good times. When I left I thought I'd keep in touch with some of them and some of them with me. That didn't happen. Turns out we were coworkers not friends. I had a robust social life outside of work and still do. That probably makes a difference. Really don't miss anything about it or anyone that was there.

We used to have...

  • Good Friday holiday
  • Christmas parties paid for by mgmt as an appreciation for employees
  • Much better pay raises
  • Autonomy to make decisions within the product line toward success (and it worked)
  • Teams working together (now we work in silos)

I met some good people there but overall, no, I don’t miss any of it. There’s a reason this forum exists, and i check to make sure Honeywell is still crashing and burning.

I miss my hilton/hampton reward points I racked up traveling every month. Loved shopping on Amazon with them and got some great stuff over the years. Next would be free gas, although you pay for the company car but thats half what I now pay for my new SUV.

I miss the days before Honeywell brought our company and then destroyed it. They were the good old days, before profit came before everything else. I worked with some really sharp people. Now they are all gone.

I miss being ERT Captain at Deer Valley. I still trust any member of the team with my life. I miss going to lunch on Fridays. And I miss the best colleagues I've had in my career.

As others have said, I miss many of my co-workers. However, even if I were still employed there, most of them are gone now as well. But even more important, I miss the relationships and people at the casting suppliers that I developed over decades in some cases. Besides helping them solve problems and helping them navigate the labyrinth of specifications and procedures, I took pride in the fact that I was treating our suppliers with respect and helping them instead of adding to their workload. They appreciated it, and some are friends to this day, sadly too far away to visit. The big projects, the people and the family atmosphere -- RIP.

Let's see:

  • Loved the arrogance from Executives that postured HON has all the answers
  • Miss the screaming and yelling from VP's in formal meetings to Bully staff
  • Positive email from CEO that leaders were not "to be Ogars" but in fact most all were
  • Excellent at demanding 60+hour work weeks after receiving redundant requests from different functions
  • Missing key family events such as funerals to stay off the Pip list
  • CEO feedback to not accept "accountability without authority" as a campaign to minimize salary discrepancies
  • Training new hires with H1B visa after interviewing other well qualified candidates that could walk or take a bus to the site
  • Outrageous deductibles for healthcare
  • Back-biting from peers to stay alive in the survivor game
  • Changing metrics to show improvement and slow paying suppliers

Co-workers were great. I miss them. What Honeywell did well- Cut everything to increase profit with zero regard on employees.

They also deliver pension checks on-time.

Worked with some great people who were either RIF victims, quit in frustration, or retired. I miss them and was disgusted by the way many of them were treated. Worked on some great projects, but they were rarely celebrated. The normal reaction at Honeywell was, "What have you done for me today?" I got tired of the executive level bullying and yelling, the push on projects and financial results with no resources, the around the clock hours with no regard for personal life, and the lack of ethics, so I quit and moved on.

The comradery. Though I still meet with my former co-workers from time to time. The best friendships you will ever have are the ones that were forged in fire.

I miss Arizona.
I miss a few co workers that reported to me.
I'm glad that I fixed several big issues that predated my time there.
I'm glad I stopped a multi million dollar mistake.

But on the whole, the products are uninspired, many of the employees are full of hate, the lying, bullying, etc.
Don't miss it at all.

My team at lockheed is a family.
Honeywell was a souless paycheck.
I never had a single person at honeywell offer me their home phone number in 20 yrs.
Never went to the boss's house for barbeque.
I thank heaven i finally got the courage to leave ...
All i remember now about honeywell is the constant berating and fear at the end of the quarter.

I met some fantastic people, all have now left because of what Honeywell/Allied Signal has turned into. My last 4 years ruined most of memories I am afraid to say. I am only in contact with one person who still remains there, what I hear shocks me to the core.

I loved Honeywell until the allied buyout and project apple.
After that the best day was the day I turned in my phone and computer to the IT guy and then told my boss I wasn’t available any longer. No notice No Regrets.
