I retired Sept 30, 2021. I didn’t look for employment until I started getting bored. I traveled quite a bit the last 11 months which I’ve enjoyed. I started substitute teaching this month. I can pick and choose the days and schools where I want to work. I also work part time for a company who wants to drop AT&T as their tv, internet, cell and pots provider and have these services through another company. If it turns out to be successful in Texas then they will disconnect all AT&T services nationwide. AT&T has screwed them over and they are angry and frustrated with the lack of help from their account managers. This, I’m really enjoying so far!! I have a spreadsheet with locations, services and contract expiration dates. I reach out to competitors for pricing and submit to the CFO. Most contracts expire mid to late 2023 to early 2024 so I’ve got time.

To those who say T has to cut more people its a downward spiral. T has no creativity. They have already lost 50k of its workforce.
You cant cut your way to success. The low stock price is due to a loss of confidence in incompetent management.

I have reached the point where I made MR of 75 (seems worthless), financially have more than enough to retire comfortably, a job I like that doesn't stress me (right now), my pensions are cash value for both legacy companies. I have now decided to take the next voluntary package and if not offered call it a career by early 2023 and enjoy the rest of life :) For me, the war at AT&T is over. This is the poorest state of this company I have ever seen: not sure if that is everyone's viewpoint when they decide the end is of the career is near

Drastic headcount reduction is the only way to increase the stock price. The stock is now just barely above $17, $16.80 will put the company below $120 billion in market capitalization!!!

I will have to go back to school since I don’t have any currently relevant technical skills. I haven’t been proactive with my own self development while at T.

Most in business sales go to another telco like Verizon or Lumen, or wireless TMo, or cable co like Comcast; and then get another sales job after a year or 2.
Outside Plant Techs or splicers can go to a telco or cable contractor for less pay, or similar pay if they move into management but lose OT pay.

Apply for unemployment Insurance (UI) immediately, then look for work.

Get the he-l out of telecom. Being in telecom today is like being in IT in the 80's. Constant lay offs. Don't count on a job at VZ or Magenta, both are laying off now. If you can keep your job fine, if laid off, try a job in HR, or some other cupcake position.
