Why not March? Or Feb? Honestly, they (sr execs) can be a bit more original.
This is sad and sick, people are anxious and they do it every year.
It's OK for them, go buy that extra Aston Martin and another lake house.
Disgusting!

There is no good time to get laid off.
So laying off employees as school starts is better than laying them off over the holidays? These being laid off will see their last day of work as on/near Halloween. Will make for great trick or treating with the kids...
Layoffs have been going on since March, and will continue through the year.
I'd think they'd avoid late November/early December because of the optics around the holidays. February is bonus season, so they also wait until after that.
You also might see an August peak in layoffs/cost cutting because actions need to be taken now in order to meet end of year targets for 2022. Any action taken earlier isn't viable because there's not much clarity in terms of where we'll land. Any action taken later is too late to make a difference. Also, August is when the first 2023 financial targets start being discussed, so orgs have more clarity in terms of what they need to do to prepare for next year.
