Is your manager able to see that you applied the jobs outside of your group?

I applied to one position internally... back in March. Still going, 3rd interview next week. Been held up by all the DEI bull$hit and all the lay-offs. After the 2nd interview I told my manager who thanked me and is looking to just promote me to that position, but he needs "ammo" for HR. I said I've been in my current role 11 years, I've done the higher position for the past 4 years (all my peers are higher, we do the same work). What I did not tell my manager is that I posted outside the company as well. Second and final interview next week. Will be interesting to see how this all shakes down but I'm obviously playing them all against each other.
My post below was aimed at the manager who said he/she would hold it against an applicant.

That is so presumptuous of you. You must not understand that some of us have our own goals and our own methods for getting there. Lots of applications isn't a bad thing, especially when many of us have a lot of experience.
Do they only look at active applications or how many applications a person has had in the past?
@1vs well it takes applying to a lot of jobs to even get an interview in some cases. HR is not exactly transparent on why you do not get a first round interview when they reject you.
@1drs. I wouldn’t. In most cases someone applies for dozens of jobs before they can prove internally since young and cheap are preferred by their failed Chase management team.
No reason to tell your manager unless you are expecting the hiring manager to reach out to them. Otherwise it might not be good for you if it goes nowhere, which in a lot of cases it does.
I definitely hold it against people that have applied for TONS of jobs. For instance, someone who applied for a job i posted has 100 applications. Just throwing sh$t against a wall. Didnt even review. Be selective on what you apply for.
Why can hiring managers see how many positions one applied for? Do they hold it against people who applied to multiple things at once?
No, but most hiring managers will reach out to current before extending offer.
No, but the hiring manager can see how many jobs you are posting for.
Nope
Only if you apply for a position your manager or their friend is hiring for. Hiring managers can see how many positions candidates have applied for.
I am pretty sure it’s no because you do not have to tell them until you get an offer. Although it could definitely come back to them by word of mouth if the hiring manager knows them.
Yes
No
You need to tell them.
