How's the food there these days?

CFL - Canadian Football League? Legacy T - Never heard of it. Hasn’t been any formal technical training classes ( aside from some introductory power classes) in twenty years. Not including g the article 43 training classes for those in the NTS title. Wish there was as much concern for that as there is for the ridiculous EHS classes they ram down your throat year in year out
Yeah, orginally named the AEC, Austin McKenzie requested the name change because he didn't like the it when employees decided to call it the Advanced Eating Center so he got smart and suggested that the CFL be renamed the Center for Learning. As soon as we heard CFL the smoke signal was out.......... and almost everyone began calling it The Center for Lunch.

That's too funny, My management team used to say...It takes 3 to 6 months "to get them up to speed".
I expressed my concerns with that thought process but it went no where!

back then it used to be called the Advanced Eating Center (AEC), probably why they changed it to the CFL!
The last 10 or more years the CFL (originally the AEC - Advanced Education Center when it was mostly switching, testing, special services and other technical training) has been mostly sales, marketing, some management stuff and a lot of meet & eat conferences so exec's would have a free place to stay and free eats (no expense accounting needed for hotels and restaurants).
There were (pre-covid) still a very few technical courses taught but nothing like it was from the late 80's through about 2000, the company does not train people like they used to, they don't want to invest that much into today's workforce because the workforce today is not as rooted in as previous generations, much more mobile and willing to leave looking for greener pastures. Not bad or good, but the employees hired in the past 10 or 15 years are much more likely to only stay 10 or less years and that is not nearly enough time to learn and become expert in their job, much less the business.
The food at the CFL was always great, after all, who could complain about a free lunch.
I started with SWBT back in late 80’s. Back then, training was huge priority and spent a lot of time at cfl. In early 90’s I was selected to attend dataquest. It was two weeks on two weeks off highly technical sales training. The final exam was a whiteboard,four instructors and a video camera and just asked highly technical questions and you had to diagram out on board. If you flunked final, you were terminated (happened to 2 people in my class). That really jump started my career and I retired as 4th line. The food was great. I was disappointed that dataquest was cut to save money.
Basically, the food is as good as you want it to be. I’ve also seen people order 2 and 3 steaks on prime rib night and that was okay. The same night I had 3 cookies on my tray and they wanted to charge me extra for the 1 extra cookie… go figure.
CFL is mainly tech training, Central office, outside techs, switches, fiber yada yada. You can't get that kind of hands on training on a computer.
Back in the day the rooms were nice, basketball court and swimming pool, game room with a pool table etc. And the training was top notch. But the fooood, everybody that came back from there said they gained 10lb's. No joke about the Prime rib night, back then food was top notch though.
I’ve been here 25+ years and didn’t even know there WAS a “Center For Learning”…
I would love to spend a full month at the center for learning. In today's environment, this whole center for learning seems like a waste of cash. I wonder what their annual budget amounts to?
Free food! How do I enroll in the center for learning?
Marriott trained.....is that a good thing?
Thursday is Prime Rib night.
Cooks are Marriott trained.
Breakfast biscuits are oily, sausage is greasy, can't ruin eggs, potatoes are greasy.
Food is still free while attending school.
The apartments are 85% clean. Some water faucets drip, some tubs drain slow.
Plenty of parking.
I'd rate the total experience 73%.
