Span of Control

New talk of span of control in the organization. Min 7 and max of 16 with 10-12 the goal. All needs to be corrected in 2023. Sounds bad for managers.

Old news. Technology people managing non technology people and have no clue what they do or care.

it is being monitored and managers are aware of it. they can only do so much when people are leaving the team and recruiting is unable to perform their duties.

my lob stopped going down this route a couple years ago and many only manage 3 or 4. not that it won't change but as of now we have more important things to worry about.

They implemented this (min of 7 reports and no more than 7 layers from Charlie) a couple years ago, but at least in my group, things has slipped over time. Multiple managers again with less than 7 directs because there’s no one checking on a routine, on-going basis. From this post, it sounds like they are finally going back in for clean-up-round-two.

This hasn’t changed from the last 2-3 years when they started the min 7 talk. This has always been the goal
