Gotta leave the company for pay raise ... that's all
You stay only if you are overpaid for your skillset and wanna have a cozy overpaid job
I find so annoying mgmt saying they "take care of people" ... what the *** does that even mean .. like Mafia style taking care , i guess

They are raising prices due to cost pressures

Inflation only matters when the company is raising prices to deal with cost pressures.

Wages are determined by blackhole benchmarks which HR claims adjustments are done on a regular basis. When was the last time your TSR was change?

scroll down to general wage increase "plus COLA"

Agree, but that seems to help offset inflation, not keep up with it as OP suggested. It also is limited to union employees, so the employers exposure is controlled.

Based on the last 12 months (though the contract states it will be based on the CPI-W in Dec) would the COLA increase be 3.05%? If so that is sweet when you consider that is the total raise % we see in management during a good year.

The stock can’t keep up with inflation!! Over $100 billion lost in shareholder value. AT&T is still over $130 billion in debt. Randall Stephenson is at home sitting on $200 million, millions in perks , a $3million a year pension and over $2 million a year in dividends.

This post should be retitled Wages vs. Skillset.

If you have current skills, you are able to leave AT&T for a better paying job at another firm in the industry. The job market is red hot right now. At some point, most employees have to leave for significant pay increases.

If you're a technician, you're wages are better than most and probably receiving more pay than the job deserves. Your wages have no problem with this inflation rate.

Without considering inflation, what information do you have that suggests the pay scales at T are not better than most? If they are better one could say that you did better than folks at other companies when you consider inflation because you were already paid well.

No company has their wages keeping pace with inflation. It is impossible to run a company that has its wage scale tied to inflation. On the flip side, should a company decrease its employees salary as inflation subsides / recovers? Just like a company, one needs to make adjustments to their lifestyle to deal with inflation.

We as management do not have guaranteed raises like the union workers. Until last year the management raises paled in comparison to what I have seen in union contracts. For whatever reason we saw a decent jump in the percentage. Additionally, generally speaking a raise for a management employee is usually less than the company average for management if that person is close to or beyond the midpoint of the range. The union is not subject to this.

Good question. Come bargaining time, the U management team should demand that wages keep up with the inflation that has come at the hands of the candidate they poured $$$ into supporting.
