If you are interested in leaving, but only in the case of layoff, tell your supervisor. Not a guarantee that you will be picked, but most really do not want to have to let people go. Offering yourself up makes it a lot easier in them.
But be advised, once you tell them, you can’t really take it back.
Post ID @zkf+1iWZhtam. I know two people who regretted telling their supervisor that they would like to be a target. They did it thinking that they have a good relationship with him. That's why I don't think it's a good idea. Perhaps someone has a different opinion?
