AT&T is dishonest and underhanded. Its a wonder they have any mobility customers at all.
I see class action lawsuits in at&t's future. All those customers who are in the middle of a contract. T is still selling phones incapable of using this 5g spectrum. This is why at&t is in last place. We go out of our way to anger and irritate good paying customers. We will be tied up in court for the next five years while TMUS eats our lunch.
I’m on an “ancient” iPhone 12 and it supports the midband C spectrum. If You BYOD’d from another carrier that already had spectrum licenses (TMO) then you might be OK. If it was through AT&T, get ready for that handset upgrade…
Gotta love it when the phones they still offer and sell are now not going to be supported because they're 'older'.
I'm not at all surprised by this. However, it's the final straw for my family cell plan-- off to TM we go. It's been ... real AT&T.
I always get the newest iPhone so who cares.
It's called outdated chip set by phone manufactures. Only impacts DATA since this is the CBAND spectrum. Not a marketing plan, just a tech advancement

here's an article from january from the same site.
so while there was some miscommunication last month, they've said 2022 phones both prior to and after that.
also from what i recall of other articles, the "older" (i think its ridiculous to call my iphone 13 max pro old) aren't FCC approved for 3.45 and have a different modem than the 14, so there are technical and regulatory reasons its not supported.
To claim its just AT&T trying to force an upgrade is conspiratorial. (and also not related to layoffs)
Does T reneging on older promises surprise anyone at this point?
