I've been around for a while and this is what I can remember:
In the '60s, oil would be gone in 10 years
In the '70s, another ice age would happen in 10 years
In the '80s, acid rain would destroy all crops in 10 years
In the '90s, the ozone layer would be destroyed in 10 years
In the 2000s, all the glaciers would melt in 10 years
In the 2010s, the east and west coasts would be under water from rising sea levels in 10 years
None of this fear-mongering ever came true, BUT it did result in higher taxes every time. Wake up.

OP - so tell us when you sold your cars, stopped using natural gas to cook, turned off your water heater, rejected any and all goods at stores (shipped via fuel consuming trucks), ditto with every service industry. It is consumer demand from individuals like you that drives energy consumption and, huge surprise, there are companies that deliver energy supply. Have a good long look in the mirror and you will see whom is driving climate change.
