Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Will there be any craft announcement of layoffs on Thursday, 9/15 like

everyone on this website seems to think? Has anybody heard of anything through the grapevine prior to this announcement if there will in-fact even be one? Those that might be impacted by this want to know so we can get our ducks in a row!

Part time work, 15-20 hours per week for a full time 40 hour paycheck! Gotta love the business model T employs!

It feels really good to be covered under a protective union contract. Living the best lfe as a T technician. Little work for a whole lotta pay! May I have another 10 years please?

Usually have to wait until after 12:00pm to announce the numbers.

11ET - silence so far. Do these announcements historically happen during a particular window of time?

I'm ready and really hope T lays me off! I'd be delighted to go at this point in the company's position!

Bargained employees are going to get hit hard!! Lots of fat to cut in their ranks.

T will keep cutting non bargained "managers". It is easy, just a click on a spreadsheet and YOU'RE GONE. No documenting behaviors, no sneaking around trying to catch a tech with a missing cone at a worksite, no trying to catch a tech without 3 types of PPE that they don't have. All of that takes effort and time. Now the spreadsheet thing, that is EZ. Those things scoot across the intrawebs at dang near the speed of light. Your supervisor can have a list of those that "need separation from the company" by the time you even think about dropping your kid off at school in the morning.

What about the areas of the country where they keep telling us that the work is coming and never does! The out of region areas of the country were supposed to get busy for the last 2 and a half years and to date, not very much! Will these areas be affected by any head count reductions?

D3 has way too many employees. Time to cut, and cut hard in SE. This region has always been overstaffed.

OK, I will admit it, I am part of the fat, the kind of employee that's been around for decades, but it's not my fault! T seems to think I'm still a valuable asset to the business unit and refuses to lay me off! It's their fault that they don't look at my productivity numbers and realize they're very low and they could probably do without my employment. I know there are many employees out there in the same boat as I, but will continue to hang around as a free loader and why not! T really needs to take a look at the productivity numbers rather than the business unit as a whole. T also relies on the supervisors to submit a business case as to why they need to retain the number of technicians he/she thinks they'll need for the work that is supposed to be coming in the future!

Town Halls are all management/non-represented employees, so they wouldn’t be affected by bargained surplus announcements.

But the folks hosting these THalls have union folks in their chain of command.

Not a chance, don’t believe this nonsense for a minute! Bell south doesn’t have that many technicians to give up! They were hit the last go around, so I highly doubt they will be victimized again! All fake news here!

That would be a bloodbath if true for BellSouth, but the temps OPT’s and FT’s are still here so not sure how they can surplus while they are here.

I listened to the call. Stank is confident about the course of the mothership.

On a side note about the 15th. There are several town hall meetings on that day. I seriously doubt they would be scheduled on a day where any significant surplus activity would occur.

If there are any announcements of surpluses happening in the 4th quarter it will be told on Thursday, and if after the past 10 years your ducks are not in a row, well ...........

Everyone should already have their resume up to date and money saved. Unfortunately 2 days before the announcement is a little late to get ducks in a row. Hope it goes well for all.

There is going to be a craft surplus announced on Thursday. The affected first lines already know about it and will be extremely tight lipped about it. If your managers are planning on being out of the office on Thursday, I would definitely be skeptical that it’s your department that will be affected.
