I had the 1st day back last week. By 9am I had better collaboration and communication than in the previous 2+ years WFH. In office is the only way to go.

I have been back to the office. Most days, it is just a couple of us. Very little face-to-face as most of the time is still spent on back to back conference calls, remote town halls, and or speaking to customers over Teams, because they don't want you back in their office. Though it has been nice to see a few of my coworkers, most live in other parts of the US, and honestly, collaboration is limited. My honest opinion is it is not worth the cost of gasoline and two hour round trip in traffic to see coworkers for, at best, 15 minutes of face time.
Just look at what all that collaboration did for at&t C-suite! $135B in debt, last in mobility behind TMUS and VZ.

Mandate people back in the office is fine with me, just stop peddling the BS collaboration. Executives are so great at collaborating, loosing billions of value. Stop feeding people BS, no one is buying, just another proof what a joke management is.

Yep, because an office is the ONLY place you can get it. Are you seriously still hiding at home after almost three years? No restaurants? Movie theaters? Clubs? Get together with family and friends? It’s just in the office huh? K.
We are forced to buy our own toilet paper. I always keep a roll in my locked desk. I'm not sharing with anyone. This company has lost its way.
I can see why a company like Apple or Tesla would need face to face collaboration. They’re solving incredibly tough engineering problems in small groups this is a plus. Maintaining years old legacy equipment there is no need for collaboration. Your just using their electric, hot water and valuable square footage. Does anyone know the cost to upkeep 1000s of buildings? Our electric bill is over 1 billion per year alone.
We actually do have to stock our own TP, trash bags, etc. at our office. Luckily I’m not there much and spend the day out in the field.

It's always "how can we accommodate the millenials, gen Z & y"? Make them follow the same rules as everyone else. Leadership is so afraid of somehow offending these spoiled brats.

Back to the office is important for younger employees. It gives the individual the opportunity to be recognized for future growth. However experienced employees in a job that can be done from home should continue to do so.
It is better. The autoflush toilets are big plus.

What are some proactive steps you could take to improve collaboration in the office? Try to solve a problem not be part of it.

It is ironic that AT&T hates using the products that they sell. It’s like working for Tesla but being forced to drive an old Mercury Cougar to work.

AT&T, supposed to be a leader in telecommunications, but doesn't see how their products can help themselves curb operation costs, building maintenance, electricity etc. By allowing employees to work from home.
Go in every day and make AT&T better!
Just don't expect me to do the same. The last three years I've earned 16,000 in extra bonus working entirely from home. I'm working and collaborating and getting stronger every day
