Dependent Verification Required by Oct. 16

I went to verify my dependents over the long weekend. SHOCK!
They want to have my marriage certificate, IRS tax filings, and/or Jo--t accounts that my spouse and I share.
Supposedly this is for Health Insurance......oh, really!!! Sounds like O'bast*rd wants detail information about to assist the 87000 new IRS agents (with we-pons - part of the recent bill) for "audit" purposes.
Anyone else have input.....

My spouse and I have been married since 1999. We do not own a house, file taxes together or have any other accounts together. I do not have a checking, savings, or credit card. I do not file taxes because I am now disabled. Marriage certificate isn't good enough. That is completely insane. So now what do we do?

I called the company that is collecting the data as I had not gotten my packet yet that contains my unique ID number and the secured fax number. She said packets were mailed 9-1, 9-2 and 9-3 and we should see those in 2 weeks time period.

My property tax is in my name only. My mortgage is in my name only. My wife came after both of those.

Company has/is being sued by dept of labor, individuals for data breach and theft. It is a big deal. Who vetted this vendor? Embarrassing

really, this is no big deal.

Re third party getting "your" financial data - It says very clearly in the instructions to black out all financial info. All they want is proof of the account.

If you are a married homeowner, just give them your marriage certificate and property tax statement. Your property tax amount is publicly available anyway and can be found on sites like Zillow.

My very personal private financial records are going to a 3rd PARTY?
A marriage certificate, I get it. Who is going to carry benefits of for an ex-spouse unless they are legally required to do so....oddly, that is not requested here.

My wife’s company (where we have our benefits) has done this for a while now. It is standard practice pretty much, just not here until now.

My spouse works in HR for another large company. We got the letter the other day, and spouse took one look at it and first thing they said was, "I don't know if this is legal", followed by "this is really odd".

Spouse thinks that there must have been some kind of scandal related to this (that hasn't hit the headlines) that WF must have got burned on.

This looks like a way to get a percentage of us to move benefits next year to our spouse's plan. Even a 5 percent drop in participants at WF has to 'save' WF a lot of money.

“ Why a property tax record? What is that supposed to support?”

Supposedly supports the fact that you and your spouse are still married. Otherwise people could provide the marriage certificate, get a divorce, and keep ex-spouse on their insurance.

For those unable to find on teamworks it’s in the section titled “what you need to know”, where the weather and time widgets are located.

So all i need to provide is my marriage certificate and county property tax document (both of which are public record)? Per this site, sounded like i needed to track down all sorts of confidential records.

Seems pretty straight forward. There is a decent list to choose from. Doesn't have to be tax filings, jo--t account, etc. I'd probably just do the jo--t mortgage. Almost everything there Wells could find if they wanted to anyway.

Just goes to show that unhappy people will find anything wrong with everything

Not even sure what you are trying to say here. Talk like an adult instead of a teenager.

HR and Benefits can f-themselves. Never had this at other companies. This will just be another 3rd-party to leak our personal information.

For those asking-- this info is right on teamworks. My boss didn't even know about this. really? WTF kind of manager are you?

There is a 3rd party site for uploading your docs which have to be in a specific format (e.g. pdf, jpg, etc.)

I'm redacting the tax form I'm providing. My finances outside of work is none of their f**king business. What's stupid is many people submit their taxes online, not paper. So any tax form created is from tax software and won't have a signature on it. So you could potentially make up anything you wanted.

Where does one find this place to submit? Nothing on teamworks and i cannot find anything in workday. Where in workday can you find this or where in TW is it posted?

IRS returns will reveal other sources of income, household income, savings account locations, stock holdings in some cases, rental income, sale of assets, donations, tax bracket...invasive!! Unless limited to the dependent disclosure page; that page will also be revealing.

I recognize that finding/producing the paperwork can be a pain in some cases, but can't we all agree that if we ran a business we'd want to make sure our employees aren't scamming us?

Look on the bright side. This will get you a year of free credit monitoring when your info appears on the dark web.

As it certainly will...

Think of it like election voting. One person votes one time. Verification needed to ensure that person is eligible to vote.In other words, we can’t have people claiming 20+ dependents like that religious group in upper state New York did two or three years ago.

It was the request for tax returns that got me. Really? For health benefits/dependent verification? Something is off with this whole exercise.

op i bet you think voting id system needs improvement because people are faking their votes, yea? and here you are freaked out when asked to prove something that people are scamming and raising the cost for everyone else.

I have 4 dependents but don’t have a problem with this at all. I hope they penalize people that have fraudulently added people before.

I laugh when i hear people complain about asking for basic sh-t like this. I used to work for a place that would measure you belly and weight and height to determine if you were paying 2 or 3X the standard rate. Medical now is insanely expensive, if this can lower it or save us some money i'm all for it.

I had to do this at two other banks. While I don't like it, it is pretty standard at this point. There is a link on the intranet at work to upload the docs if you didn't get the mailing.
