S-x workers say Wells Fargo shut their bank accounts

Here’s a headline I thought I’d never see!

https://nypost.com/2022/09/06/s-x-workers-say-wells-fargo-shut-their-bank-accounts/

A couple thoughts come to mind:

  1. Self- righteous executives and public figures are often guilty of participating in the very activities they take a public stance against. In other words, “He doth protest too much.” I recommend we do a deep dive in to the personal activities of our C-Suite and Board.
  1. WFC says they periodically review “high risk” accounts and businesses. What business is more “high risk” than scandal-ridden Wells Fargo ???
  1. Is Wells Fargo still one of the top financiers to the g-n industry? Just asking….

"The hypocrisy just amazes me."

I'm no longer amazed, just saddened. The human race is doomed. Perhaps it's for the best.

@1thw. Laughing at you folks because the same people crying cancel culture are the same ones saying you can’t cater a g-y wedding or it’s Ok not to rent out to certain minorities or complaining about immigrants.

The hypocrisy just amazes me.

Exactly. Over half a million die every year from heart issues. Sue fast food? Or maybe we should hold those responsible for their own actions to account rather than anyone else. A guy dressed up as a clown didn't force me to have a burger every day, I chose to (not really, just an example). Ford didn't send the drunk driver, and Colt didn't send the mass shooter. It's very very clear who is actually responsible in every case.

Cancel Culture has arrived in the financial industry.

"We don't like what your business is, so we're going to cancel you".

Wells Fargo should not take a stand - on either side - on issues like these.

The same reasons why they don't take pot money, it's illegal on a federal level. The same level as WFC.

OP here - I do understand the concern around the Fleites lawsuit. Also understand that the closed-accounts’ activities are illegal in most states.

Still had to point out the multiple hypocrisies of WFC. Hopefully the parent of a child lost to a school shooting thinks to sue WFC for financing the g-n industry.

Additionally, Wells Fargo has been named and found guilty in how many hundreds of lawsuits? Wells Fargo has been found guilty for defrauding and ripping off their own customers (insurance fraud etc), their own employees (401K, Whistleblowers etc,), and misleading and defrauding their own shareholders etc. The Federal Asset Cap we are under for 4 years is the costliest penalty in banking history.

If Wells Fargo sees the need to shut down accounts for fear of risk and lawsuit, than the government should shut down Wells Fargo for infinitely worse legal offenses.

It all depends on how much money they have in their accounts. If they are high dollar accounts, WFB turns a blind eye to them. Seen it many times.

“ Irons and Marie said they have applied to at least two other banks — both of which rejected them.”

So not just WF?

“ Financial lenders may have been scared off by a lawsuit filed earlier this summer in California, where Serena Fleites claimed in court papers that she fell victim to revenge po-n after an ex-boyfriend posted an explicit video to Po-nhub that was filmed when she was just 13 years old.

Fleites’ lawsuit named credit card giant Visa, which was accused of facilitating the dissemination of child po--------y.

In response, both Visa and Mastercard stopped processing payments for Po-nhub’s advertising arm, TrafficJunky.“

Sounds like WF doesn’t want any part of that hassle.

The g-n industry pays their taxes, "S-x workers", not so much. The entire "industry" is illegal. Not shocking that the bank doesn't want to finance it.
