Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I'm looking at very stressful two years

I'm a little under two years away from early retirement but I've seen too many people in my position either become victims of layoffs or they suddenly become incompetent and are put on PIP after decades of exemplary work. I'm petrified that the same thing will happen to me and I know there's nothing I can do to prevent it. Knowing what might happen will make the following two years even worse than they were already slated to be just for working here.

@jhs is 100% correct. First don't let them notice that you have retired in place. Slow roll it. Be cheerful and very polite to all of your coworkers and management types. Cherry pick the tasks or parts of tasks that can be easily done. Make sure that your manager and program manager or project engineer knows how great a job you have done. The pip process takes a minimum of 6 and up to 18 months. Ending up in a rif takes another 6 to 12 months. If you have any seniority absolutely don't walk out if put on a pip. Hold out for the package.

I am in the same position. Actively applying to jobs to hedge. I want new offers in hand at the time of performance reviews. This has been a terrible year in regard to cost growth and milestones. Feeling like it is time to move.
Fantasize about a meeting where I get told I am on a pip and graciously decline to accept, set my laptop and phone on desk and leave.

You’re correct there is nothing you can do about it, except to try to not let it consume you
