Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Reasons why you lost motivation?

1. It makes no difference to your chances of surviving a round of layoffs if you work hard or do nothing. Layoffs at DXC are a numbers exercise, with no consideration for performance.
2. Managers don't care what you're doing, or not doing. They're in the same place as you (I used to be one), wondering when they're going to be laid off themselves. I often found myself being 'under consideration' for WFR whilst trying to work out which of my team of good people I had to lose. It's not a great place be as a senior manager who wants to do good things for their team.
3. There are no rewards for high achievers. No pay rise, no bonus, not much chance of promotion.
So where's the motivation to achieve? Where's the motivation to work hard, when working hard gets you exactly nothing? That's right - there isn't any.

Copied from +1i7gd0gK. Very well said. Unfortunately, there are even more reasons to lose motivation here.

"reasons why" is from the department of redundancy department.
Regardless, dxc remains a sh|thole company.

DXC's focus is not one of investment. They have already said that their focus for the remainder of the financial year is to start to return some money back to the investors whilst cutting a further $500M - that means you!

1jrz+1i919n55, not quite correct i think. The board and senior leadership lot still get rewarded (lots) regardless if dxc make or lose money. Look at the SEC filings. The company doesn't have to make money for them to get rewarded by the looks of it. Of course, stock price not growing and no dividend then stock holders also not getting anything. But I could have it wrong...

This is exactly what needs to be fixed if DXC is to survive.

Its also why we have talented people running away in droves and any new hires quitting inside of 6 months.

Its also a circular problem - losing staff or staff having zero motivation causes loss of customers and no new business, which means they need to cut more.... and round we go.

Break the cycle, pour the money in Salvino! Invest!

DXC Culture week was a good idea, but thats the icing on the cake. Fundamentally you need to fix the problems described by the OP here and THEN do the fluffy stuff.

Like the board and the shareholders, we employees work to gain money. If we aren't working 100% the board and the shareholders don't get any money.

Simple ffs!
