Looking for comments on what people consider a high PSG. People on this forum are always complaining about management or people in high PSGs. Agreed that Chevron seems to be over staffed on these roles and not a lot of value add but where would you draw the line, ie, 25, 26 or higher?

What’s significant for the jump at PSG 29?
Depends on the BU. Anything in the US cannot be compared to non-US BU’s. Total Renumeration hands out PSG bumps like Halloween candy to US based employees. No merit required. A PSG 24 is probably a 22/23 outside the US. This is why overseas expat assignments are out of reach for non-yanks. The unfortunate thing is it’s on purpose.
Anyone PSG 26 and higher receives tons more perks and benefits that those below. PSG 29 is another big jump, but so few people ever get that high.
Anyone at or above 29
I complain about management, since management is making decisions ans handing down/enforcing policy.
PSG is related but not 1:1- I know PSG 27s that are technical SMEs who have little say as to policy, and I know team leads at PSG 24-25.
IMO, a high PSG is anyone receiving stock options- 26+?- but that isn't the same thing as management.
2 higher than you.
PSG "26" is the first level that receives stock options (ie executive comp plan).
I agree that PSGs "27" and "28" are "made in the shade" and we never terminate or demote such individuals unless there is se-ual harassment or fraud (somehow, incompetence is not a disqualifier :) )
I would agree with the PSG 27/28 level. That is when they have sufficient authority to hire someone (admin, analyst or contractor) to do meaningful work so they can be ‘strategic’ and attend D&I seminars.
Draw the line after 24. Anything after that is generally for a person who has management potential or is in actual management material. 27+ is made in the shade. Yes, this is a sweeping generality and there are exceptions for everything depending on your technical skills or competency and the business needs.
So is the guy asking this question.
45 is high.
What a d-mb question
