If your job can be done from the office, it can ALSO be outsourced.
T does a pi-s poor job at managing employees, even worst at managing vendors. Outsourcing results are increase cost, decrease quality, and customers will keep leaving. But hey, it’s the grand old strategy, who cares about results.
wireline will soon conform to the Mobility model. Issue PO, supplier does the work. Need a repair, call supplier to get quote, issue PO. Wash rinse and repeat... Only technically skills needed on the AT&T side is the ability click the approved button for PO's. Just think how much headcount can be cut by using this model. T might turn a profit.
Bug changes might be coming to a T near you, but not this year! I believe T will acquiesce
and not make any major moves this year in terms of employment status. I think they're willing to wait and see how this economy all plays out and then they'll do what they have to do. Until then, I think it's just business as usual! Think about it...look how quiet it's been! Nothing coming out of the C-suite!
What does WFH have to do with outsourcing? SMH! You can still go to a premises visit to go to a client from your home.

Technicians jobs are rock solid no matter where they live or where they're hired from! T can outsource all they want, but I've had to follow-up contractors careless, messy and sometimes id--tic work! They have no idea what they're doing, just some off the street new hires that are clueless and their work clearly illustrates it!
No, not necessarily. If you have access to an application that is restricted to employees only it can't be outsourced. A few apps can only be accessed by US citizens on domestic soil with a background check

Any job can be outsourced including technicians! it's called hiring contractors. If the company is smart they can hire highly qualified people that work anywhere and possibly pay them less, but the more likely scenario is that salaries will begin to equalize all over the country. Truly smart people will get paid good salaries and live in cheaper areas. Also the company can save ridiculous amounts of money by selling all the office buildings they can.
whith this being sad, unions for it workers make much more sense now, right guys?
This will affect people in high cost areas first.
We are hiring folks all over the place now, so there is no need to go and get someone from the Bay Area or So Cal and pay the top $$$ for them. Let's get a guy from Ohio for 2/3 of the cost.
