Lump Sums Would Drop 15% If AT&T Rates Were Released Today!

https://helpfromhr.com/blog/minimum-present-value-segment-rates-att

We are about halfway through 2022, so I wanted to check in on how far lump-sums will drop in 2023. If AT&T were to use the most recent rates (April Rates), the second segment has risen by 1.5%, which equates to approximately a 15% drop in lump-sums. Rates are still rising so this could get much worse by the time November rates are officially released.

Just found out from a family member that for May’s rates the second segment rate is jumping somewhere between 4.75 and 5.00%. June’s should even be better

@oai, GenZ and Mills have the greatest advantage of all, TIME !!!! When I started saving and investing back in the mid-80s I had no clue the measly dollars saved would be worth so much today, even with this market tumult. You younger investors have a generational opportunity that shouldn't be ignored or dismissed with contempt.

Even with 25% hit on 401K recently, 401K is still 4 times the value of my pension... 401Ks and 401K matching are not going away, nor is SS.

@djv and @oai... your comments are some combination of ignorance and lack of discipline and inability to delay gratification... Perhaps Dave Ramsey approach can help turn things around for you.

So you get a th------e, pension, SS, and 401K. Us gen Z and millenials get squat, a 401K, we will be lucky to get 5 years in at T before being sacked. For those of us without a rich inheritance, it's gonna be a nightmare.

Very normal for share price to drop during a recession. It will rebound in time, be patient.

The Stink loves this.

  1. There will be another "free" mass retirement at the end of the year.
  2. The Stink will not have to make any more pension contributions. More $ for the Stink to pocket!

What if Social Security goes belly up? Us gen Z and millenials are really screwed.

@djv, 401k is a joke?

Saving and investing over a 40+ year career is really the only way to financial independence for you and your family. You need to educate yourself on the power of compounding interest over 30-40-50 years.

For those who were rebadged to DTV they receive a 7% (115%) match for a 6% contribution. no pension at DTV.

For those of you without a pension option, what is the company match in the 401k? Is it more than for those who have a pension?

Boo Hoo! What about all of us with no pension? 401K is a joke, when we are of retirement age, we won't have a pot to p-e in.
