Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Has wells gotten older?

Is it me or has wells gotten older? When I started in the 10s there seemed to be a fair mix of younger people in their mid to late 20s. Now you look across the enterprise and everyone is in their 30s and 40s. Has Wells gotten considerably older or do young people just not want to work for a financial institution?

The older I get, the more I come to realize that most young people aren't as smart as they think they are.

@1eaw I'm confused as to why you're accusing posters of ageism. What are you reading that I don't see?

So ageism is real and exhibited in this post. One day, you may be lucky enough to be older. Do you think you should be discriminated against because you are older?

30s/40s? More like 50s/60s in tech. Everyone seems to have grown up kids and a WF lifer. They don’t know any better.

WF is like the beach in the movie Old. You come here and you age exponentially. Try to leave and you’re trapped.

Why would someone just starting their career come here if they had other options? Of course we have few quality people in their 20s, they were 14-23 when the sales practices scandal came out and avoided wells like the plague, to their benefit.

I know many young, talented people who have quit. The entry level jobs are also going off shore. Combine those two and the on shore team member age goes up.

People in their 20's ten years later are now in their 30's. Who would have thought that? Wait....a dump post on the WF Layoff board.
Utterly earth-shattering.

A bunch of people were in their 20s, and now 10 years later they are in their 30s. Shocking. Absolutely shocking, I say.

Charlie could solve this issue immediately by offering Voluntary packages. Other, better-managed and less archaic, companies do this regularly.

You know what I learned about from all those professors in college? They're professors for a reason, they couldn't hack it in the corporate world. So don't give their comments too much weight.

From my perspective, people in this age group had extremely limited professional opportunities following 2008 recession and banks were bailed out and needed a paper pushing army to clean up. So this age group was drafted by the temp agencies of the world and a lot of them have stuck around while the wider job market recovered slowly.

An old IT professor told us never to work for a bank or an insurance company. We should have listened.
