Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

What happens when one doesn't complete the "required" training?

I have a long list of various trainings that I need to complete. I've completed most, but now it seems that Honeywell just keeps piling on with evermore ridiculous training subjects. I do not have a problem with safety training or training that involves my day-to-day job functions or even some of the ones that inform me of the many different and unconnected Honeywell business entities. But when I am expected to complete training that has nothing to do with my profession, or is purely about the current social buzz word issue of the day, I have a problem. Has anyone been fired for not completing the required training? Just asking for a friend.....

Do the mandatory training, don't be too late getting it done, but make sure you charge every minute (including interruption time) to the overhead number. And make sure to deduct the extra hours from your expected "overdrive" time. I used to wait until I had a number of overdue reminders accumulated, then I'd log 3+ hours of "training" time and call it good for the week so my "overdrive" time on funded programs took a 10% hit for the week. I'd then apologize to the manager that I was late getting the training done so he was aware that my free overtime was sacrificed at the altar of toeing the company line.

@1azw Yep, I had my "study guides" (screen shots of all of the answers) on a shared network. Most folks in my group knew they were there and used them. Even my manager used them for the training modules that were applicable to him.

Same here if i didn't meet the deadline i was just asked to complete with in next week or so. I used to keep a paper file a "study guide" if you will LOL of answers to most of the yearly required courses so i didn't have to waist a half hour or whatever reading the material.

I missed my deadline for the social training that I disagreed with. I was "advised" at my performance review that I wouldn't receive my 2% raise due to that. My manager gave me 60 days to complete the training and would then approve the raise. I was also told that if I continued to refuse the training that I would be put on a PIP and it would go on from there. I decided to just do the training, received my raise and moved on.

It's like the tide- sometimes nobody is paying attention, then one day an exec will have some issue come up, training will be mentioned, they will pull a report, and then press managers to get their folks to complete training.

In the end, if your manager asks you to complete training, and then you fail to do so, you could be PIPd and ultimately fired. Never heard of anyone fired simply for missing an initial deadline though.
