I feel sorry for older workers

There are still many people here who dedicated years of service to this company and believed that their loyalty would be appreciated. Unfortunately, I see that this is not the case. It's a big lesson for me not to stay here for too long and I feel very sorry for those older workers at Sam's.
Recently an older coworker got a new job and I was really happy for him.
How difficult is it to find a new job once you get older and have so many years spent here on your resume? I guess it's not that easy.

No need to feel sorry for us long time older workers. We have devoted our careers to this company by our choice. Personally I have held a Leadership role for around 15 years. After declining my severance I admit I looked outside. The comfort of minimal commute and starting all over again with a lower pay and my computer skills are not strong, I stuck around. I find I have the ability to listen to others and give advise where needed even to management team. Yes I have felt humiliation and belittled by the "kids" but guess who they call when problems arise that takes the knowledge of a long term associate. The attitude I now have is this is my pre-retirement gig and blessed to say I'm working for my benefits and 401k and stock. What we should be more concerned of is ageism. THIS DOES EXIST! Because of this, we have been overlooked for any promotions that we may be qualified for just because we move a little slower and not pretty enough or not favored enough. This can be changed.

The "corporate poison" being unrealistic expectations. Yes, there is such a thing. There are limits. Only 40 years experience of doing it instead of talking about it understands what they are. We have seen every strategy under the sun. Get off my lawn.

I am glad you are treated fairly. You are lucky.

The banter is we are leaned on and taken advantage of, and if not wise from our years, accept the corporate poison along with the drones in their 20's that don't know any better.

I am an older worker and I am treated fairly. So just what is all this banter about older workers? We are more responsible, we do our jobs and more and we do not call in.

The whining on the internet is out of control, 4 fux sakes, find another job if you're so miserable.

The saddest part is they think we can be manipulated like those in their 20's that don't know any better. I always thought I would be sad when I retire out of there. Now they've ve made very easy.
