Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Orange Contract Rumor

Rumor is the union countered a company offer and is asking for 7% raise for this year, 5% next year, then 2% for year 3 and year 4 for RSC title. That is ridiculous! Inflation is 8.5% and we need at least that every year! We need to strike!

Conform or leave. You lucky to have such an overpaid job.

I could see maybe an 4-5 % Bump the first year then 1% thereafter, or one time signing bonus. COLA is out of the question. Company wants to be able to budget wages out 5 years.

Go ahead and strike y’all. The company don’t care. The public don’t care. The work will still get done. That’s the facts.

Oh no! The company magically has a motivated non bargained employee base just ready to step in case of a strike. Guess what, those that could have left the company, and those that can are pi---d about the reduction in retirement benefits that were yanked by Stankey. That's the facts.

From the retirement side looking in. Stand your ground to get what you and your peers want. No giving in. Just remember the bucket of money allocated for the final contract obligations has already been set. The more the company gives is usually made up from a reduced headcount. Have seen it many times over the years.

COLA went away in the late 80's.
You'll never get it back.

And you'll never go on any effective strike for a myriad of reasons.
The Company saves a lot of $$$ during a strike.
The company doesn't care about customer service.
Most jobs have little work.
The Union will never touch the hundreds of millions in the strike fund.
The Union and the company are bed fellows.
Neither care about you, your family, your situation. They are both businesses.
Seen it for 41 years from the Union side.

I hope you do go on strike. Do it quickly as possible because the jobs market is about to blow up. With this morning's inflation report I expect the Fed to do a Paul Volcker style hike of 75 to 100 basis points. That will crater the economy and the job market. Use the leverage while you think you still have it.

While you are on strike here are some things to thing about. Why do continue to support the CWA? Are they worth your loyalty? Didn't they sell you out on layoffs? Didn't they sell you out on the last contract? Didn't they sell you out on the mandatory vax jabs? Didn't the CWA endorse Biden? You got what your dues paid for didn't you?

I'd consider flat COLA plus 1%. That should prevent falling behind.

Lighten up Francis! Inflation doesn’t mean a company pays you more. You can always leave…
