Peoples Republic of Honeywell forces mandatory overtime in Urbana, Ohio

I remember a few years ago when a bunch of us in aerospace were voluntold to work a Saturday. That Saturday, a bunch of us were working in the lab when the boss rolled in clad in his Golfing outfit and dropped off some donuts to support us for five minutes. I assume he then went on to chase the little white ball around the golf course. I was impressed with the leadership.
@1xfn+1h8lU8uz I was reading an account about SW development and discovered a new term to describe what we are talking about:
“Voluntold Overtime”
When management said that if nobody volunteered for weekend overtime, then everyone would be called in. That sounds very Honeywell.
Here at Minneapolis aerospace. They always tell us it’s part of our job to work overtime. It’s required of us.
They need three people per shift. So they can cover overtime over lunch and breaks, in order meet their production schedule. Better known as the matrix.
We used to have 18 people. Then to get promoted to staff they keep cutting staff. Then everyone else who followed. Who wanted to get promoted. Copied the same philosophy. Thus, never ending overtime and flexing on the line.
They did an employee survey. They couldn’t believe how unhappy Minneapolis employees were with too much overtime. So they had to send somebody from corporate Arizona,
because they couldn’t believe the response on our survey.
So they had one of those fake meetings with corporate Arizona, then company sent all Kool-Aid or cult Honeywell employees to meet with them. Now everything is just dandy.
@gsg+1h8lU8uz More like March 2003.
Unless you’re under a contract, they cannot force OT….you decide if you want to do it, or leave….it’s up to you, they don’t own you.
LOL. That's cute. Olathe been on mandatory OT since Q1 2019
