Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

The future of Honeywell

Why does it seem to me that we are concerned more about the future of Honeywell than our leadership?
Does anyone think that those at the top have a vision and a concrete long-term plan for the company?

I just saw that Honeywell posted on LinkedIn how they are celebrating Juneteenth day today. Earlier I saw them flout their dedication to supporting the LGBTQ+ community. All good and fine but have you looked at the Senior leadership from the company website? Mostly old white guys, only 2 women and 2 guys from India.....

Not exactly walking the talk these days...

Those at the top have a vision: Grab all the money possible and sc--w everyone else.

Why would anyone being paid a few million a year give a sh-t about the future of Honeywell or any company they work for? They could not care less - they take their cash, sc--w over as many as possible, and leave. They don’t care whether Honeywell is good, bad or otherwise and they certainly don’t care about it’s future.

I'm surprised that a shareholder activist like Peltz hasn't made an attempt to break up the company like GE is doing voluntarily. Likewise H leadership should be thinking the same since this old style conglomerate of unrelated companies has been out of fashion for decades. Conglomerate value is based on superior management of the companies by corporate. (Note Buffett does this by NOT "managing" his portfolio of unrelated companies.) In the case of H this is mainly accomplished by cost cutting forcing ever improving profit margins to justify stock price premium above S&P index. Maybe new book debunking destructive GE practices will give leadership a graceful way to spin an exit strategy.

There is no future. We’re going to be like General Electric aerospace. I think you have lesson 3 to 4 years left in aerospace. Better have a new job before then.

As soon as we are in a recession Honeywell will crash. Now it is still possible to make maximum margins on our legacy technology. That era will soon come to an end.

Or Westinghouse. Greed ki---d them too in the late 90s. All that is left is the name slapped on cheap appliances. Just like our name is now slapped on sh*tty Resideo thermostats.

Look at Bell & Howell. Once an innovative company and a leading manufacturer of high tech (for the era) equipment. Bits and pieces were sold off over time until all that was left was the name. Now the only thing with their name on it is "as seen on TV" junk.
There's your future.

Agree … for the business it is make the quarter no matter what. At the top they worry about what new business can they acquire and suck dry. Typical American vampire company.

Ask Maddog about linearity...
Preaching for years, but is the biggest culprit in driving the non linear activity of the company. All because he trusts no one and his direct leaders are simply along for the right without any power nor the will to change anything or lead....let the know it all make all the decisions.

It's quarter by quarter. That's it. Plain and simple. There is NO long term plan.

As we all know they just care about the shareholders. Doing more with less people is a financial benefit.

The captain of the Titanic had greater vision and demonstrated leadership than today's HON leaders. At least the Titanic had a band.

Of course they do! They embrace the ideals of Franklin Roosevelt when he said :

No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.
