Let go over my 13 years with the company. I personally felt that I should have put those 13 years somewhere else so I quit. For me it was the best thing I ever did for myself. That was 4 years ago, maybe Walmart/Sam's has learned from the past decisions and the work environment is much better?

Husband was with Sams for 20+ years. Was absolutely going to make it his lifetime career. He was one of the few… his associates and managers LOVED him. Engagements scores always super high. Was never ONCE coached, written up, etc. in 20 years. He went in to work one day and was let go. No reason given. NONE. Said an investigation uncovered some wrong doing and him and 4 of his managers let go. Funny enough…. All these managers, including him, were HIGH end of pay. Like maxed out. He had one assistant making over $80k because of time and being grandfathered in on a couple pay scale changes. All the managers left were new. GM they brought in to replace him, new. So sad. So much outcry in the month following his termination and then crickets. Dog eat dog world out there.
Best thing that ever happened to him and us though. Not all retail management has to suck your soul and make you sacrifice everything outside of work.
9 @2hbv+1gvpT2lc Since you were a club manager for years I am left only to take your testimony here with a grain of salt. In ten years there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that you did to your associates what you are complaining your bosses did to you. You would not have been in the company's good graces for the first 9 of those if you had treated you associates like humans rather than animals. You played favorites , lied to your associates , cheated people out of promotions and raises , wrongfully coached and or fired people and had a generally cr---y attitude toward many of the others. Only after the ones above you began dumping on you more and faster than you dumped on your people (or possibly when you finally decided to defend your people) did you decide to leave and then try to commiserate with those whom you had treated so poorly in the previous 9 years.... I will grant you one and only one possibility that you were not like this and that would be that your assistants treated people badly but you did not stop them. So ok you might have felt the pain of your associates but since you let your managers dump on them anyway it might as well have been you doing the dumping. Either way do not whine about how bad your bosses treated you when you just turned around and let that stuff slide right on down hill. NOTHING about Sam's sickens me more than managers who whine about being treated the way they treat people.
I quit after 19 years. Never been coached but the writing was on the wall. Leave or we will force you out. I didn't quit immediately but they constantly messed with my schedule. Open close open close. Even with block scheduling they screwed me. I have a lawsuit now because I was the only one who they did that to. Settlements are in the horizon. The manager has already been fired. So they admitted what happened
20 plus years and left after being forced out. I have seen many great long term managers and associates get forced out. They do not want you to question anything, H.O., MM, or RGM. If you question them your are targets. If they don’t like you, your are a target. I have seen this as a CM for over 10 years. They have their favorites and play politics with careers. Was so happy when I left. Family was happier as well.
Nothing changes for the better at Sams Club. They just keep getting worse and worse. Disrespecting long term associates. Running an entire club that is short handed every single day. WAY too many trucks being delivered. And new apps that don't even work or no one can figure them out. Like NOVA. Be glad that you escaped!!!
