Lately my workload has increased drastically, due to my team shrinking and my manager dumping the work of the people that left on me.
People who have other opportunities leave. They don’t hire anyone. Obviously, the work doesn’t get dumped to the people that are the manager, golf buddies or whatever, but to me. I see this also happens in a few other groups. I just can’t believe that manager see this as a permanent solution. I swear, if I wasn’t so close to my retirement I would leave this dumpster fire of a company without a second thought.

Just nod, say positive things, golf, smile and throw your orders in a 7-11 trash can on your way home. Claim the extra work never reached you. Take credit for good work others do and blame others for poor work you do.

ATT is trying to change the demographic mix of the company. In the past 5 years they have suplused many good, productive workers. Now they are hiring people that don't know anything except how to Tweet and Facebook each other and have no interest in learning either. That means the remaining productive workers cover for the gap, just like it's always been.
Stankey will get out before the house of cards collapses and he'll take a train-load of shareholder cash with him, just like Stephenson did.

I left last year under same circumstances covering 3 positions for over a year. Never looked back. Person I trained to replace me thought others covered my work when I was on vacation, nope just waiting for you when you get back. No real benefits of staying there. Reviewed situation with several financial consultants, reevaluated small life changes and said good bye. You might be surprised, even if you pick up short term employment to get to social security it's better than dealing with that mess.

Why wait until “retirement” if you’re miserable? What retirement benefit(s) is it that are you staying here miserable for? There literally are none.
My boss dumped 4 times the workload on me after 4 people left.
I retired that Friday.
Now there's 5 MIA & nobody left who knows how to do the work.
I’m in the same situation. My boss tried to help by adding another body but the VP declined it.
I’ve already provided my boss my retirement date 2.5 years out. I’m out on my 25th year anniversary. Unless they offer a package, which I don’t expect.
