How about wine and liqour?
We walked our steel a couple of weeks ago looking for space. We counted 86 pallets of wine and 43 pallets of li---r.
Over half of those still had precounts on them from inventory in February.
The buyers are getting kickbacks from the distributors and getting rich at our expense - so much corruption at the Home Office.
We are using our parking lot to store pallets of green and blue soil instead of letting our members park their vehicles.
We are spending hundreds of dollars a month for storage trailers
The system is completely broken.

Clothing is ridiculous!!!!Do not have enough room on tables for winter and summer clothing. They want all clothing on tables 18" high and everything by size, crazy people. All buyers should come work at club level for a week with no breaks, just a 30 minute lunch like the majority of us are working. New hires say they don't get paid enough to stay long enough, us long term associates are the ones who are the most dependable and the hardest workers who work the hardest and under appreciated. All we ask is we are treated with respect and appreciated for the hard work we do. Do not paint everyone with the same brush, positive acknowledgment goes a long way.

Maybe it’s all the junk from China that was sitting stranded on cargo ships for so many months. Too bad it didn’t all sink.

Will be 6 dc trucks behind today. No OT allowed to get cought up due to home office. No pm backroom associate due to no lift driver wants to take a pay cut to work back there.

Our dock is so full we only have enough room for a fork lift to drive through . It gets so congested if people are trying to do their cardboard and recieving is trying to find space for more appointments. It's ridiculous on the amount of soil we have, TVs, clothing, paper towels and toilet paper.

"OUT OF CONTROL. Does home office not have any idea what’s going on in the clubs???"

they don't care. it's all a buddy system at corporate. the buyers are given nearly unlimited funds to overbuy.
*vendors/sellers get a bonus for selling X amount of product.
*They give the walmart/sam's buyer a portion of that for helping them that fat bonus.
*WM/Sam's buyer then gives some of their cut to their superior.
Nice scheme they got going on there.
Buyers are untouchable. You can't call or email any of them to ask why are we receiving so much freight when computers tell you the exact amount what was sold last year, last month, last week........
When you have that type technology, there is no reason for clubs to be overloaded with freight.
To a point, it's understandable for hardlines & grocery to carry a little extra.
But go take a peek inside your club's fresh area coolers. Freezer/cooler, deli, produce, & bakery are all way too heavy on backstock.
It isn't needed. These depts receive trucks everyday. there is no justifiable reason why any of those areas should be carrying a more than a 2 day supply of anything except milk, eggs, & some bakery items that can be frozen.
If home office wanted to get a handle on labor, they'd crack down on buyers first. Excessive buying wastes labor in the dc & the clubs.
But they're all making money under the table, so the buyers are going to continue purchasing more than clubs need.

End of the 1st quarter and trying to cram it in. Then when the weather clears and everyone wants a patio set there will be none. Early in, early out and be ready for fall apparel and merchandise in July. It’s all about staying ahead of the season. And it’s ridiculous.

Ask club manager where should all this freight go?! They don’t have a clue and it’s like talking to the wall. They expect the associates to figure it out and God forbid we don’t get everything done! It’s bad enough trying to get everything unloaded, slotted and backroom cleaned up, but to also have manager ask why vendor returns and liquidations aren’t getting done! REALLY???

I have had people ask if we are going for the Dollar General Model. They are creating very unsafe situations for employees and members. I work in a club where they took out 10 to 15 percent of our steel space we are now stacking and storing items in places I would have never dreamed of. I wish the company was more transparent in regards to flow. Back End caps and pallet parties doesn’t solve much these days.

everyone send a big thank you to our super intelligent buyers. from fresh to seasonal, these clowns just buy and buy and buy without any thought going into where it going to go, who is going to put it out, or just how much is really going to sell. if people at store level were so reckless, they'd be fired immediately.

Where are we supposed to put all these ridiculous amounts of gazebos, pergolas, playsets, Lifetime sheds, patio sets, couches, shuffleboards and televisions that are as big as minivans? Along with the hundreds of pallets of potting soil and mulch there is no room for anything else!!!

Same here. We have the smallest backroom area in our region. Where are we going to put all this freight? It’s ridiculous! HO seems to think that we all have the space so keep sending sh**
They think prices will go up so they’re stocking us up! People on vacation in backroom and no one to help!

Not only is it so packed in receiving and the steel, but now we're at the point that it is extremely dangerous to unload in the backroom. Too much freight and too many people disrespecting that we are on forklifts trying to unload trucks!!!!

Yes, it’s insane. Can’t keep up. 9 trailers out there today. Only 2 of us and other trucks to do. No pm associates for 6 months now. No one clears the dock and the dock is packed when we walk in and it puts us behind right from the start. And inventory prep going on.

HO is to worried about what color the pallets are, they don't have time for silly things like logistics.

Came in to 3 to 4 DC trucks plus what ever else was scheduled for a week now. Just got cought up after working a 12 1/2 shift. Steel is packed pretty tight. Starting to miss Covid when the steel was empty lol.
