Has anyone heard anything about early retirement offers being made to the most senior techs? I know techs are a valuable and much needed job title within T, but will T acquiesce and start reducing technician headcount with offers at least until the demand for their need increases once again?

Offer Leg-T techs VTP, several will run for the exits.
Been hearing, “the work is coming, we’re gonna get busy” for two years now and still nothing! That’s ok though, the paycheck is still the same every two weeks!
Just hold your horses…specials has a lot of work coming….down the pipe.
Technicians are safe contractually until ‘23, so some managers will be laid off over the next few months until then.
T can not layoff technicians, but nowhere does it say T can't offer technicians a voluntary severance package. It's drastically different than forced reduction because it' voluntary! How about smoking that!
Nothing can be done, employees are protected under a labor contract. No layoffs for two more years! Put that in your pipe and smoke it!
Why would we retire?
240 hrs of vacation.
The best weeks.
No weekends.
Newest trucks.
First dibs on OT and travel.
30 years means asbestos underwear. Company has no interest in you once you get there. Nothing they can do to you.
Last to be forced to do anything.
And with so little work, I'm actually probably getting $200 an hour for the actual time I spend working.
I'll hang around.
It would make more sense to surplus the newest techs hired to avoid such large severance payments.
