Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

I think my boss was forced to be a jerk.

My manager was a good guy, then things changed. He knew I was planning to retire at age 62 in a year. After 34 years of good reviews, I was suddenly on a PIP. Perhaps my boss was helping me by setting up a layoff situation (Severance! Unemployment benefits!). Well, it worked perfectly for me. When the covid hit in early 2020 and the company started laying off I raised my hand to volunteer, fast! The thing is, up to that point in my regular PIP one-on-ones he was so demeaning and downright hostile. But, at the same time he was looking away and pushing his chair back away from me (until he was literally in the corner of his office). I definitely sensed that someone from HR or a Director was listening in to make sure my boss was a big enough jerk. Poor guy. But he made his bed and he was sleeping in it.

He or she was born to be a jerk. These are the people that they want to hire for management rules. They’ll get those parts going down the line faster.. Even if the quality sucks and parts need to be reworked. In return the upper management will get their bonuses.

In order to get more parts down the line. They’ll just turn your head and stare at you. They’ll even pull up a chair behind you. Then stare at you. How much work are they getting it done. By staring at somebody or walking down the line watching everybody.

When they’re pushing parts. Upper management will stand up for them I want to get abusive or harass. Even HR looks the other way. Yet! When you scrap too much. Then you gotta go.

My recent post was deleted. Honeywell marketing didn’t like it. I stated they would get rid of old people. I also stated whenever there’s new management they replace the old management and group leaders with their new buddies.

You get a whole bunch of marketers from Honeywell complaining about post. They delete them. How dare you tell the truth. Proving Honeywell is run like a cult.

By the way if you want them to put you on a PIP or layoff. These sick psychotic leaders won’t do it. When you’re all excited about it happening. It doesn’t make them happy. If they know you’re gonna be miserable at work they will keep around.

It’s like when your wife leaves you. She finds all how excited you are that she’s gone and you’re having more fun without her. She tells you if you’re gonna be that happy without me I’m coming back. I rather have you miserable than to be that happy. This really happens somebody I know.

You should see all happy I am. I’m waiting for them to walk me out the door. I even tell them to walk me out the door. They won’t do it.

When I really needed the job. They would send me to HR all the time. It would bother me because I might not get my goals. They would see that reaction on my face. They would even lie more and threaten me all the time.

We will have to fire you next time. Threats to change your behavior. Everybody at work says I’ve never seen anybody so happy at Honeywell. I’m looking for a new job and have couple interviews coming up.

Please play your old games with me. Once I’m offer a new job. I want you to call me to HR again. Over more lies. We’ll see what type of outcome you have this time. Ha. Ha. Ha. It’s my turn to play games now.

You made it easy to pick you for the outer L quota by letting your boss know you are retiring. Why waste the raise pool $ on you if you are leaving?
It’s pretty cold, but that’s what happens when you have quotas.
Don’t take it personally, it’s life at Honeywell.

Worked at HW for 2.5 years. One of the worst jobs I ever had and quitting was the best decision I ever made.

My boss has always been a jerk - at least yours was forced to be.

Director and up, generally, are not trustworthy.

Here is a funny one along the same lines. My stupid boss made me PIP the same 30 yr guy 2 years in a row. Well you can guess how that went. To be continued. PS. Worst company I ever worked for.

If you are forced to put people on a PIP who don't deserve, you're going to pick people with 1 year left like yourself because it won't really matter and he can avoid doing it to someone who may be around a while.

Your thinking was right that he was setting you up on orders from above (especially since you were over age 50 :()).
