It doesn't matter that someone is obviously an empty talker, Cenovus prefers such employees and they are the ones who will be promoted in the end. I worked for several other companies, but it seems to me that nowhere do they thrive more than here?

Cenovus has always been this way. As long as you suck up and say yes sir to everything your VP says and you’re golden. It’s never been about talent, it’s always been about making the VPs feel good about themselves. That’s why they want us back in the office, they miss their adoring crowds of suck ups.
What’s worst is sitting in a room and watching Jon and Jeff soak it up while sitting on the edge of their chair. They eat the salad and then get angry when we have a $1 billion hedging loss weeks later.
I wish they would ask these salad tossers a few detailed questions to test them. Figure out they are very far removed from the source, but they won’t
It's called word salad and they are "word salad tossers". Say as many words as you can without saying anything at all to make yourself appear knowledgeable. These clowns rise to the top because they know how to schmooze vs. produce value and results. The word salad tossers that I know hated WFH because it was harder to lie, manipulate, and intimidate via computer/phone vs. in person.
