Connection Awards

Has anyone received a connection award in 2022 yet?

Connection awards are great motivators and I’ve given out 3 to my team so far this year. Much better than IPI was since it was limited to 30% of your team. With connection awards I can reward 60% of my team. I think it’s a nice program.

It is coming and it will be better for all than previous years. Remember that it is replacing the IPA that was given once a year and only to the ‘top’ 20% of a team. The ‘top’ designation was subjective and a forced percentage but convenient for lazy managers (L3s and L4s).

I generally get very good reviews and always did well on the personal portion of the bonus payout. But I have yet to get a connection award since the inception of the program, and don't expect one. I suspect that this is something allocated for favored employees working on pet projects. Although I work hard, exceed my commitments, and get glowing peer reviews as well as peer recognition, I have never been on the "favorite employee" list. I think one reason for this is that I don't take any time to write up "weekly wins", because I believe it should be the management team's responsibility to recognize good work, not the employee having to toot their own ho-n. I guess that is a personal failing of mine, but it's part of my character not to be self aggrandizing. I do feel well compensated and I like what I am doing. If/when that changes, I will re-evaluate my work situation at AT&T. The Spot Award and video requirement takes the entire self aggrandizement to an entirely new level and I just want no part of that.

Ever since they changed the rules in the Legg organization, I haven't gotten any individual bonus. I used to get one every year but now you have to be on high profile projects and they don't care about people who happen to be on legacy ones even if they make the company a lot of money that Stinky then loses on stupid decisions.

With the new rules about having to film a video for whatever they call the new spot awards, I can't see my manager going out of the way to do that for anyone.

The title of the award indicates how they are distributed.

Why would any one rely on "bonuses" when craft can write their own checks?
Ask your "team". Maybe you didn't collaborate enough.
