There is more residual oil trapped right under our noses in our existing fields than exploration has discovered the last 30 years. We have some great chemical EOR technology but nobody likes the risk. By the time we do a pilot years have passed and everyone has forgotten why we were doing it. Skip the pilots and just jump in, fer cripes sakes. Everyone is chicken to fail and it keeps us from making progress most of the time.

We were once industry leaders. We gave SACROC away.

I understand that this is not a site just about layoffs but I agree with the general sentiment that it has devolved into a cesspool of butthurt losers with no social life and no desire to actively advance their careers, only to complain about others more successful than them.

Just one guy: posts on every thread “ what’s this got to do with layoff?”. He still can’t get over that he was let go two years ago. What a butthurt loser!

Obviously you guys (especially Anonomous) aren’t very intelligent or can’t read very well as the opening page clearly states that this site is NOT just about layoffs. It says “news and rumors”. Read it again if you don’t understand.

If your exploration program is in the toilet, you need EOR.

EOR, if done right, can be hugely profitable as the wells are already drilled and everything in place. Huge old fields adding just a couple percent more recovery is great. We should plan it from the get-go on all our better fields. It is like washing your filthy car for 20 years with only water then trying some soap.
