Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

DXC ANZ and attrition

I exited DXC ANZ over a year ago now when WFR was easier to get but the local job market in ANZ was not as crazy busy as it is now.

Wondering how many of my ex colleagues are still waiting for a WFR and are they still possible (if you have a supportive manager)? What would it take for those still unhappy to jump ship or is the temptation of hanging on for a package just too great?

Jacinda would be great but she wouldn't last at DXC. Too honest and open and cares about outcomes for people.

With ScoMo we'd have no change. Its all about what's good for the person at the top. Lot's of 3 word slogans (Seize the Market anybody?) lots of distractions from the real issues that affect and concern people.

@7khn+1gAMgi8U slight correction "Platform X - where the Bl00dy He!! are you?" and
"DXC - How good is that!"

i think she has a busy job already - but ScoMo is available after next Saturday, or Josh, as they'll both have plenty of spare time to spend with their families

I can see DXC's new marketing campaign now - "Platform X - where the h@$l are you?"

Completely agree with @1yun+1gAMgi8U and others in this thread - it's the same dire conditions in Europe as well - no change / improvement just soundbites from Mr Shouty and his exec team.

ANZ is bleeding badly. The denials and head in the sand from execs is truly staggering. Any replacement is cheaper and inexperienced staff. The sand of the golf course they will be on in a couple of weeks (yes that’s right treating themselves to wine, dine, and golf to “plan” how they get their bonus this year with austerity for the rest). Lets “seize the market”. How do you do that with no capacity or people to do it and no strategy to forward plan and have workforce available?
Of course forward hiring won’t happen because that hits exec bonus and pockets. Our competition is forward hiring many thousands in APAC.
A simple and telling statistic; when I joined DXC the global headcount was ~130,000 staff. What is it today ?
You guessed it, almost the same. Hence why we are not growing at the speed of our smarter competition and seizing the market. Slogans and well scripted messages won’t get us there. An action plan around it (not wine and golf) more than exec bonus squeezing the life out of the company and employees, just might.
Ho-e in one !!
Though we are dealing with weekend hackers so don’t hold your breath.

@1woc+1gAMgi8U -
"are unmotivated employees a problem? of course, but i'm not unmotivated because i don't like it anymore, i'm unmotivated because it's frustrating to see how management has run this company into the ground over the last 10+ years. and don't tell me it was because of the customers: despite the corona pandemic, mid-sized companies in this country have grown and are hiring. apparently, it's only dxc that is downsizing."

Couldn't have said it better myself. My field in IT is great and interesting to work in, including some of my colleagues who share that same passion as I do. With every town hall I get out of there, completely frustrated because of how out of touch our management is. I'm in one of those so called complex countries. If they fire me, I'd get a massive payout due to unions, and still would find a new job in an instant. When they don't, it's no big deal because this is the easiest and most laid back company I have worked for.

@oty+1gAMgi8U "Do I feel guilty, no not at all."

why should you? even if you didn't work 70-80 hours a week, you shouldn't feel guilty.

it is not the employee's fault that caused dxc to lose customers, it was faulty management decisions in the past combined with bad sales people who were not able to explain to customers why they should pay more, and preferred to sign bad and unprofitable contracts just to sign contracts.

are unmotivated employees a problem? of course, but i'm not unmotivated because i don't like it anymore, i'm unmotivated because it's frustrating to see how management has run this company into the ground over the last 10+ years. and don't tell me it was because of the customers: despite the corona pandemic, mid-sized companies in this country have grown and are hiring. apparently, it's only dxc that is downsizing.

the very fact that management is able to clearly address the problems in the town halls and hides behind hollow phrases such as "less lasagna and more spaghetti" shows the real problem: either management is not capable of recognizing the actual problems, because then they could be named and fixed, or management is not interested in the underlying problems, in which case they cannot name them and also not fix them.

"What would it take for unhappy people to jump ship..." LOL DXC ANZ mgmt doing surveys in Layoffs now why would someone who left ask this. Attrition in ANZ >26% and APAC >35%. Wrong people leaving?

Temptation of hanging on for a package in the USA is maximum of 8 weeks pay, so not much chance for that. What types of packages are provided elsewhere ?

I stay because I have almost nothing to do and I am beginning to LOVE that. Do nothing, get vacation time , Health benefits, 401K match up to 6% and retirement in about 3 years. Couldn't ask for a better position.

Do I feel guilty, no not at all. I put in my 70- 80 hour weeks in the past, I don't get stock options , bouns and a huge salary like streak cutter 2 or the other board members, the board added a new member instead of just assigning the role to a paid non-NEO person
