This most likely be the case within ATT, as well. Way too many layers within the company. Expect more senior leaders to depart. We will be left with a more agile company. But don’t be fooled, a lot of the new leaders will be young and clueless. So it won’t be all good.

All were top members of Kilar's management team. - LOL Some of these like Biry thought they'd get a big promotion by going to Warner then Stankey pulled the rug out from under them with his backroom deal with Zaslav
AT&T and agile is an oxymoron. This company is monolith and until they get rid of the traditional waterfall mindset and stop trying to fit their style into SAFe or agile, they will fail at this
AT&T won't be cutting people because of the split, we never fully integrated except perhaps for a few HR people.
All the smart people left!
The existing managers are clueless as well.
The only thing I've seen with reducing management levels is making people do the work of managers without the title. They call them by various names including team leaders but all it does is create the same structure with people who don't even know if they have authority to make the decision.
