Rumors floating around Florida of another cut coming to OPTs, FTs, and some STs second quarter due to supply chain and COVID-19 issues. Anything solid out there or is this just a bunch of hot air?

Rasesh Patel in the Investors Day release: The company expects to reduce G&A support cost cumulatively by around $1 billion between 2022 and 2023.
Layoffs will be a big part of that. Hopefully a voluntary offer coming
Ridiculous as in my area they keep hiring back folks they outsourced to IBM etc, as they need them and they have the knowledge base which they can not find on the outside. The second time around though, I see these folks are a bit jaded and are not giving it 100% but who can blame them?. My V.P, actually said at a Town Hall isn't it great that folks who left AT&T are coming back here to work as they wanted to come back? No, they got outsourced and IBM off-shored their job and they got laid off in a year. Then with connections came back as Contractors and then got hired back as we could not find anyone better out there with as much knowledge to fill the position(s). A real merry go round with very knowledgeable but very jaded employees.

surplus are not rumors at att - they will happen no matter how many employees they have or don't have.

I’m an OPT in Florida and can confirm we have been hiring techs and engineers in construction. We also have temp/term FT’s and OPT’s still here, so they wouldn’t be able to lay off and FT’s or OPT’s until they were gone. I don’t know about ST’s because they are usually cable repair and work out of different offices than us.

Probably not. Engineers are working overtime every week to get techs work. Construction is swamped x100 in FL. 4-5 New Network Managers have been hired just last week.
Be at your best everyone. Off shore departments are exceeding expectations. Learn a skill, be an asset, stand out. Your day is coming. I left in 12/21. There are many amazing opportunities out there.
Seems like some of you dummies don’t know that AT&T already has an agreement in place with the union not to reduce the total amount of craft employees by even one employee till at least thru end of 2023. While this still allows the companies to do a small force adjustment here or there they would then have to hire elsewhere because , the total number of craft employees cannot be reduced. So no , there will be no mass layoffs.
If that’s truly the case, then T could easily use that excuse in out of region states where the workload has been extremely light, more techs than work, but they’re still hiring. Explain that! That’s why layoffs are unlikely because T can easily keep techs on the payroll regardless of supply chain issues or Covid or whichever excuse you might think!
