Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Making more after returning?

Companies don't care about you, they never will. I have seen several of my coworkers go to other companies with most going to Progressive and Geico. They have realized that it is just as bad there as it is at Allstate. A few came back last month and with the band adjustments are making more than they did before at Allstate and at the other companies. - op @1ovc+1fq20hXD.

I don't believe that there are very many of those who wanted to return here after leaving. I'm still wondering though is it possible that some are making more now that they’re back at Allstate?

@3fyb+1fs6688g I am happy that you have a good manager at Progressive, my team does not. My manager is ok but it is the next level up that is awful, micromanages our manager which in turn causes us to be micromanaged and worried about our jobs. I have coworkers that have talked about breaking down after meetings. If I have to I would go back to Allstate but to be blunt I am getting out of insurance and going to a different industry.

You couldn’t pay me to come back to Allstate.

With the pay raise and not being questioned if I’m in the wrong aux or micromanaged and being able to use the bathroom when I want or need to, I’m happier.

I make $5 more an hour out the gate here than I did at Allstate after 5 years and that is sad.

I wasn’t even laid off… I just came here because it really is so much better.
Allstate was shady and hid a lot, no transparency at all. Progressive shares gainshare bonuses with ALL employees, yes, even those that I haven seen called ‘grunts’ here.

I can breathe. I can work at my own pace… I am respected.. I am compensated better.

Even if Allstate has finally raised their pay to be competitive with the rest of the industry now, the work culture was TOXIC and traumatized me..

I have a boss now that I don’t need to over explain myself to all the time! It’s so wonderful!!!

I came back at $9k more than I was RIF'd at. Job is pretty close to the same level and band and I feel less restricted than before. Different department though and less strenuous work. This area has a MUCH better work life balance and leadership that is appreciative of me. Kept same PTO since came back within the required timeframe. I think part of the key is get out of claims. Seems like claims is the real bad spot to be in this company as most other areas I do not hear of the same horrible things and conditions that claims has. I will NEVER go back to claims. This department feels like a whole different company.

As for the competition I was at Progressive for just over 6 months. On the surface it seems better but just through the thin candy coating on top and it is really not any different. Pay was pretty on par with Allstate, didn't stick around for the bonus as wanted out of there. PTO also was not near as good as Allstate. It felt like there was always shenanigans and ulterior motives in play at Progressive. I felt no sense of trust there. Seemed like everyone was trying to hide something. Not an environment I wanted to be around for any amount of money. At least when Allstate screws you they are pretty up front about it and considering you are going to get screwed some way at any company you work for might as well take it from the one that at least is honest about it.

@1vsp+1fs6688g I left as a B2 making about 70K which was just about mid point when I left, I went to Progressive and they offered 75K, I asked for 78K and they came back with 75K take it or leave it and since I was not happy with my manager I left, new manager turned out to be a micromanager, then coworkers talked about how bad it was and started leaving so I applied back to Allstate. When I applied for a new role it was as a C2 and the offer came in right after the new year so the offer was under the 2022 salary band structure they offered 91k and change I countered with 96 they cam back with 94K and change. I wasn't expecting them to come back with anything more than 92K but they did.

I have been contacted by former coworkers at Progressive after I have arrived here asking for help to get to Allstate.

It pays to leave and come back.

I also got a significant raise at progressive. I’ve been here for 7 months and love it.

Gainshare is a huge plus, and I feel appreciated. You can take your breaks when you want, and even slide your lunch.

As a former Allstate Agent I love having a Progressive contract. Their system interface is light years ahead of Allstate’s Advisorpoop platform. The ability to talk to underwriting and customer service is fantastic. All of these things are not available at Allstate. The revenue at progressive is more consistent also. My close rate at Allstate was 18%. My close rate at progressive is 82%.

I love it at progressive in auto claims. Work life balance and 40-45 hour work week and my unit is fully staffed. Got gainshare end of year bonus too in 2 payments .

To the last post, did you negotiate when you came back or did allstate just offer you more?

I was at Allstate, left for Progressive was there for a year and change and it was the same issues, about half of the people under my Progressive manager left in that year so I went back to Allstate 2 bands higher and came in over midpoint, funny thing is in the past 6 weeks 2 of my former Progressive coworkers have showed up and are making more money now than they were at Progressive.

The bad part is there are people that have been at Allstate for years longer than any of us 3 and they make less than us because they were stuck with the 3% raise each year.

Myself and 3 other colleagues came to progressive and all love it.

I wonder what role you are in for them to come back to Allstate and be miserable. I make more, not micromanaged and get a gainshare bonus.
