Aero Meeting Free Thursday

What a joke. If you were not sure, now you know that ALT is completely clueless.

This is what they are doing to try to stop the exodus of talent? One day a month without meetings??

And then making a big deal out of it. Even asking us to take a survey about it. Imagine wasting your time writing a survey about something so d-mb.

First, we are all way too busy to worry about whether we are scheduling a meeting on a “meeting free Thursday”. Second, no one is going to cancel standing meetings we already have scheduled. Third, we are grown adults, and intelligent engineers - stop treating us like we are 5 yo mo--ns.

The reality is aero is so short staffed, contracts are not being met, and employees are being asked to meet impossible schedules, work OT every week and ignore our families. The stress is crushing, and then we are rewarded with a “meeting free” Thursday once a month?

I could not be happier this week is my last week in this insane asylum called Honeywell aero. ALT has made it abundantly clear they don’t have a clue and are going to continue to drive out talented engineers.

Likewise, I blocked out 2-3 hours two days a week on my calendar for several years. This was my "gotta get it done without interruptions" time and it was quite effective.

Do what I did for 20 years as a Garrett/Allied/Honeywell manager; I blocked out every Friday to prevent a-holes from inviting me to meetings. It worked perfectly!

No meeting days have been implemented over and over again thru the decades. The problem is that the on-the-ground troops doing real work have real working meetings necessary to move product forward. The only people who "stop" having meetings are managers and up. Further, some working folks may actually stop coming to working meetings (due to the initiative), and thus the collaborations, reviews, and decisions required are delayed- which is the exact opposite of what is desired. Honestly do not believe these kinds of initiatives have any positive impact on the vast majority of the work force.

But it sounds good...

I have a better idea- What if they have work free Fridays or Monday madness and WFH or Taco Tuesday or weird Wednesdays where you get actual work done and no talking Thursdays. All great ideas the ALT is welcome to use.

I bet you all could come up with some goodies....

What an asinine idea. It could only come from the ALT. Guess who will be the first to break their "new rule" when they have their first "perceived emergency." This is what came out of their special meetings in an attempt to stop bleeding talent? Just when you thought you've heard it all...truly mind boggling.

Yup. Telling people to move Thursday meeting to another day DOES NOT help
If mgnt REALLY want to do something to improve the situation, stop forcing OT, stop the endless rde cuts and forcing team to continuous moving between rde and revcogs. And how about putting the legions of people watching us work with endless emails on milestones etc, to actual do some of the work.
What a joke with this no meeting thursday. That's the best idea we got?

Wow, so glad I'm out of HW, but this makes for a good laugh. I think you may have to change the nickname mad dog to something else....maybe CD for clueless dog. Firing on all cylinders CD.
