Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Leaving due to bad leadership

Technical management in Surface is not technical and talks in circles. Never commits to anything… we keep doing the same stuff even though we say we want to be builders. 10 years in and I’m done with the frustration. That’s the top issue. Then Amazon offering big salaries is secondary but makes it easier to take the leap of faith. Good luck everybody https://www.levels.fyi/company/Amazon/salaries/

It’s true… Amazon does hire the BEST box packagers.

I know that Amazon and Google only hire the best (kinda like Chevron USED to do...), so if it's Amazon you're going to, congratulations!

OP, old CVX timer here. Take some advise from me, nobody gives a rat’s azz and the grass is no greener on the other side either. Forget about the poor leadership. Do you really need someone to lead you in your career or in life? Count your lucky stars you work for Chevron. Accountability is non existent in most workgroups at this company. Just keep riding the good salary gravy train and don’t pi-s off your boss or step on any toes. Do just that and you’ll work here as long as you like. It’s all about the money, here, there, and everywhere.

Sounds like the rest of chevron- wells, HR, IT, finance etc. what a nightmare. How we get anything done is beyond me- rule by committee and overwhelmed inept leadership. All focused on the wrong things. The level of frustration has reached an all time high. Best of luck to you. Working my exit plan as well.

Best of luck to you. I hear that Amazon has a retail mentality which can take some getting used to. But when enough is enough, a leap of faith is healthy. Many are likely on your heels.
