Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Good advice

For those with exceeds and low raises, you need to be talking to your supervisor about a promotion. If they can’t get you all promo, you need to post for jobs with a promotion. The new system will punish people that are exceeding expectations within the same pay grade year after year.

[Pulled from +1fj8FCkg because I think this is a really good advice]

The real advice is look for groups with a lot of young people who are presumably under CO ratio 100%. If you are in a group with a lot of old hands then you will only get structure no matter what.

You’re kidding yourself if you don’t believe Chevron would lay every employee off to protect the dividend. It’ll be MW by himself in 1400 looking for toner for the copy machine if it means preserving shareholder value.

"For those with exceeds and low raises..." that's a crystal-clear message that Chevron likes having you around, but they would still lay you off in a heartbeat. It's the Chevron equivalent of faint praise.

I never asked for a promo in any way but seemed to receive one every 3 years like clockwork. Just do great work. Think about how to impact the business. Avoid id--t bosses and weak corners of the business.

New system = good for bonuses, poor for raises. Would have easily gotten 1-2% higher raise in the old system where the computer sp-t out a number.

So the good advice is to try to get a promo? In that case, more good advice is to invest in stocks that do really well. Your welcome.
