Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Ghost town

Is it just me or is 1400 a ghost town today? Seems as though 50% made some excuse to stay home.

Chevron take notice......this is RTW week 1.

The first week of RTO went better than I was expecting from a personal standpoint. Other than the horrible commute I didn't have any complaints. People left me alone, but I was able to get more done that I would WFH. Of course WFH gave me a few more hours to work so it all balanced out in the end.

Do you people even know how lucky you are making great money and having excellent benefits. The people complaining about being in the office three days a week should be ashamed.

Chevron's going to have a real problem getting people to a) put in an honest 40-hour week, and b) show up in the office. Full-time WFH was just too much fun, it set the 'new normal'.

So, do you understand the return to work working schedule? Some groups are working Monday from home, Tuesday to Thursday in the office and Friday from home. Other groups work Monday from home and Tuesday thur Wednesday in office and Thursday to Friday from home. Your post is confusing; is your department 5 days a week?

Chevron on fridays has always been a ghost-town, it's your unofficial extra day off. For fun, in the pre-Covid days I used to count how many of my group were there on my working fridays. It never got higher than 33%, and was more typically 20-25%. There were even a few 'pioneers' who claimed to be 'working from home' on fridays.

WFH has created the perfect environment for those who want to get paid, but really don't want to work. 9/80 was the first gift to those people.

I don’t think we are close to 100%. Not sure if we are even at 75%.

I am torn. I understand that people crave this type of flexibility and most of their job is on teams, but you can't fake it for a full week? Just wait until we buy someone. Half assed employees are gone with their "synergies"

Do you hear the people sing?

Could just be a lot of people on vacation at the same time. Like Fridays were before - 20% of the staff show up at best and most left at lunch time and never returned.

OP, do you honestly have nothing better to do than play office police? Maybe if you focused on your work instead of who is in the office who isn't you wouldn't be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I went Tuesday and Wed. My manager said Thurs is optional so I’m home.

My supervisor told us to show up and be seen once a week in order to keep our assigned workspaces. I just showed up on Tuesday and left at lunch time.

seems like most supervisors are actually super flexible and are just concerned about if the work gets done or not and will not enforce attendance, so wouldn't expect that many early on anyway. people need time to make arrangements etc.
