Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

It seems to me that the attrition has slowed down

Or at least not one of my colleagues has left for a while now. Either that or it just seems to me that the attrition has slowed down because all those who could have gotten a better option have already left?

There is no push back on RTW other than some anonymous posters on an internet message board. We will have normal attendance come Tuesday since we are all corporate sheep.

The attrition is slowing down. It will come to a full stop when headcount reaches zero.

you should see how many 1:1s or initial PMP sessions are set up next week since it lines up exactly with the 2 week notice period and having to be on the books till Feb to be paid out the bonus.

For those who have hung in there and laid low through the pandemic, the rise of wokeness and the robbing of Peter (our o&g assets) to pay Paul (shareholders), pulling the trigger at all-time high CVX (USO … even though we are Brent heavy) prices is going to feel like a master stroke. Congrats.

You can't say attrition has 'slowed down' until you see the tsunami that retire / resign after the bonus is paid out. The 'smart' are keeping a low profile until then. Never play your cards ahead of time. Be safe, wait until April 2nd and collect another month of insurance benefits.

Do not give your notice until the bonus is in your bank account. You will forfeit it if you give your notice before you get it. And I’m not speaking about the end of your notice period. If the bonus hits the account on Friday, March 11, then Monday, March 14, is the earliest you give your two week notice.

All the details are on the CIP intranet site. If you quit, you get nothing. If you are laid off you get the bonus. For a lot of people it was fine to just waste a few months at home. Likely they will drag their feet on RTW and then just quit on March 1. Easier then being wrong and losing $50 K.

Do you even get your bonus if you resign before the close of February payroll? I know you get it if you’re ROM’d or if you use your vacation time through Feb 28, but not sure if you voluntarily quit

Why do people say. I am waiting for my bonus. Well stop working on 1/1 and you get it. Don’t have. Go stay until march. They know how to deposit that money into your account they have been doing it for years

Agreed. I am in HR and waiting for the bonus and I plan to leave soon after. RM and her worthless leadership team have ruined morale and don’t seem to care even tho all the people who have left have given her feedback.

Don’t even get me started on JL as RM’s lackey. That’s the future of this function, people. The decent HRDPs left or planning to leave. What’s left are those who are lazy or can’t find a job elsewhere.

RTW is going to be a disaster for Chevron. The pushback has been incredible and GMs and managers weren't ready for it. There will be alot of turnover between now and the end of the year. It will all start after bonuses are paid.

Losing 8-12 HR people makes the company stronger.

Finally, people have realized what a fantastic employer CVX is and are now being rational and staying.

HR is going to lose between 8-12 psg 22-24s by July. Bonuses need to be paid (35-50k), and some are in advanced talks with other companies and others are waiting one last PDC where there is not much opportunity. HR destroyed moral during transformation and many of the GMs are insufferable to work for.

Wait until we return to the office. The RTW is a de facto layoff that MW is using to trim headcount. People who reassessed Chevron’s place in their life and don’t want to deal with Houston will leave over the next 3-6 months.

My personal opinion is:

  • o&g is not a declining or growing industry we are a stagnation industry
  • chevron is a declining company
  • I predict major technical fails in the coming years by factory models, lose of experience, MFO, etc
  • no true plan with CCU outside of our company carbon (other places don’t want chevron they a green company not an oil company)

If you stack this together you end up with no plan and no vision of the future. So while it’s not dying right away it doesn’t have a bright future. The company spends more time talking about cr-p other then oil and gas it’s a wonder we make any money.

We are not in a declining company. We are well positioned for the inevitable increase in fuel costs, and have strategic investments in alternative energy. The petrotechs are a intelligent bunch, they can transition within Chevron if they want to, but in the next 10 years at least there will be a huge demand for their service. Chevron is a fantastic place to work, considering many alternative options.

Sadly we're all in a declining industry, thus the reason why people leaving. Petrotechs are grateful to have a job, other may have better opportunities. Yes, it's not as great company but people have jobs and MW sucks, but so did JW. DR was better in my opinion
