there will always be layoffs at att. it is how they manage. worse place to work in the world.
att has been collapsing the last 10 to 15 years and accelerated when they decided to do a hostile takeover of dtv and destroy everything they had built.
They can’t get the sh-t from China to do the overlay. Teams been almost idled in marjor markets due to supply chain, hired like crazy but don’t have the glass to throw down plus they kept the wallet shut last half of year but hired a tone to overlay when they don’t have the glass to overlay.
I wouldn't bet on layoffs being solely in management since there are areas where craft personnel are completely idle, very little work! This being the case, how tolerant will management remain before craft is impacted by reductions?
So are you saying that we should beware the ides of March?
The layoffs are going to be in management not craft. A lot of the sales work has gone to the resellers just like the COR stores are being turned into AR.
People, I’m in an out of region area of the country where work is slow, not even enough work to keep the techs that are there busy, yet T is still hiring more technicians there. Why is that the case if T conducts layoffs in business sectors that are slow with little or no work? The whole business model makes no sense, but is certainly reflected in its stock price!
Some of you are setting yourself up for a lot of disappointment. The whole market is about ready to turn over, layoffs will happen.

Yep, because technicians with 25 plus years of experience with the network, and SME's who are knowledgeable of the same, have an unseen army of unemployed with all of the same knowledge and experience just walking around the streets waiting to be called at a moments notice to work for AT&T.
My hunch is, this is another d-mb post. If AT&T has idle force, there should be layoffs. It is immaterial what the financials are. Either a worker is helping directly or indirectly towards the bottom line, or their not. Lack of work will decide if layoffs will occur. My bet is, 2022 will look like 2021, with most force imbalances handled by attrition. The big driver of layoffs in 2022 will be closing of offices as AT&T reduces its real estate holdings or leases.

T-mobile home wifi is $50 per month, including taxes, fees, and equipment. At my house this is usually 400 down and 25 up. No data caps. Very similar to cable speeds but much cheaper.
When we're traveling we each Hotspot our own devices but the most data is video that we watch on our phones. That data doesn't count against the Hotspot usage. We've never had an issue.
If you are a single person household, cell phone hotspot probably is good enough. Average family of four have multiple internet devices, home base broadband is essential, investing in fiber isn’t a bad idea. But can we compete in service quality and pricing against the cable providers?
It's about bleeding the host dry. It's not about customers or ethics or employees or sales or service or stock holders or longevity or appearance. So far, so good
Unfortunately for T, there is no push to fiber to the home in the out of region areas of the country due to competition regulations.
The big layoff will be 1 qtr after the WM deal is done. Not before.
Last comment is so ignorant. Unprecedented number of people working from home and need not only faster downloads but faster uploads. The demand for fiber is high. AT&T is taking all of Comcast’s customers in neighborhoods that have fiber available. Comcast can’t compete. 7 percent inflation is not going to prompt folks to give up their home internet lol. Is the plan to build out fiber supposed to earn new customers, or increase prices for existing customers? If it's to increase prices, you'll be competing with the massive inflation in food costs, and most people already have unlimited wifi on their cell phones. They're not going to pick expensive home internet over eating.
