Can HW still be trusted?

Just understand the history. Honeywell ceo canceled all remote work suddenly and without notice one day. Told everyone that remote work was no longer permitted and fired anyone who could not adjust over the next six months to a year. This started a time of massive turnover as employees sought a workplace where they felt valued and safe.
Lesson.. Honeywell can not be trusted to honor even a written agreement. You have zero personal security in your job and could easily end up separated from your family in order to support them when Honeywell closes your building.

It's the HR trolls with all the downvoting. They resort to mass downvoting when they lose traction in pumping the hot topic political issues to the top of the pile.

When that loses steam they switch to pumping noise (i.e. mass down voting) to confuse and discourage anyone from speaking their mind.

Seems to me that the org is very uncomfortable with free speech...

Absolutely true. Honeywell thinks nothing of voiding contracts.
They do it to vendors ( late payments )
They do it to retirees ( removed healthcare benefit for retirees in their 90s)
They do it to employees .. WFH agreements mass cancellations
They do it to employees .. furloughs and layoffs
They do it to employees .. discrimatory hiring that uses race as a specific requirement

All true, all documented, all systemic at honeywell.
Join honeywell where the employees just get it done (to them)

@1nwp I have also heard the Cote story referring to the Clearwater site. Thanks for clearing that up. Was Sarasota Aero? What kind of work did they do? Where did it end up when the site was closed? Was it retaliation for the event that ended WFH? Thanks.

DC and DA are Jack Welsh disciples. They know how to use companies as their personal cash cows for $500 bottles of wine and beachfront properties. They squeeze every last drop off blood out of employees and then toss them when they turn 45. Nothing to see here. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss

Not coming to HW's defense here, but the WFH rug was pulled out from under us at another large multinational company I worked at, whose name you know. We lost our top technical experts as a result. They had been given permission to work remotely years ago due to the difficulty of finding such talent locally. Then the guys at the top shuffled and the new bean counter in charge started cutting indiscriminately based on cost rather than value.

So other companies do a lot of the same dirty things HW does, but HW takes it to a new low and is unapologetically soulless about it.

I knew team members with WFH agreements and they were let go. Never mind that they were SMEs and there wasn't anyone else trained to handle their tasks. DC, DA, and ALT were all "damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead," and believed that it would work, but instead it turned out to be like the Titanic. Glad to be out.

remember how the boss (now the maligned head of Blue Origin) struggled to do damage control after that event? That weekend dozens of US Airways planes sat on the runway because nobody would answer the phone.

People had setup their lives around those remote work agreements.
Managers begged and got temporary "exceptions".. hush hush.
Furloughs, layoffs, major site closures followed.

Employees felt helpless. Sometimes they wrongly believed they deserve the abuse and that they couldn't get away from it because of financial dependence or other reasons. In most cases, the abuse went undiscussed and unreported on public forums for those reasons.

ohhh.. wait ... I dropped into the description of battered wife syndrome...
I guess if it fits.

@1yit - DC was visiting a facility in Sarasota, 60 miles away from CLW, when he suspended the WFH policy. And the facility in Sarasota, which is now closed, had nothing to do with the facility in CLW.

That's an old (true) story. DC went into CLW on a Friday afternoon and it was a ghost town. Like it was every Friday afternoon. Pretty much the only people onsite were hourly folks, techs, assemblers and such. He got POed and sent a scathing e-mail saying WFH is ending. Even applied to folks with a written agreement. My site (also Aero) enforced a "not on a regularly scheduled basis" remote work policy. We still could WFH occasionally.

It's called a Soft Layoff. Costs the Honey badger nothing, makes the market happy and Darius gets a hard one, thinks he's a financial genius. He didn't invent this, he's just been to a good business school and has expensive consultants.

I know 3 people personally that had written approval for work at home. Two of whom were in Europe and it’s really hard to exit people in Europe

But they did it. More and more people every year. This should be my last year. It will be good to get out
