I couldn’t come because of the bad weather and of course, they gave me a point. .
Now it is not clear to me, how is it that in some clubs employees get points for not showing up during bad weather, and in others they don't? (Someone mentioned here that in their club they don't get points if they don't show up for that reason.)

Points are automated. They don’t automatically get removed. PPTO sometimes will. But generally speaking a manger has to go in and authorize it.
If it is what we call in our state a level 2 or if a lot of employees call out for weather, you don't get points and you don't have to use protected. I would talk with your manager and just ask
I called out for flooding before and didn't get points. It didn't flood at work, but I live 31 miles away and it flooded where I am at. I didn't get points when I selected natural disaster. I don't know if that was a courtesy because my job knew various areas were flooding because we are prone to floods ... Or if that is how it is supposed to be. There was no state of emergency called, but it wast a secret that areas were flooding.
if a state of emergency is declared. no points are usually given.
You have to use protected. That is why you accumulate protected. For all call offs, be it weather or sick kid or car won’t start or your sick. That’s why it’s wise not to burn your protected time off.
We get points in our club.
