Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Where Will AT&T Be in 1 Year?

AT&T ( T 0.13% ) was once considered a solid stock for conservative income investors. Yet over the past five years, the telecom giant's stock lost nearly half its market value as the company made a series of debt-fueled acquisitions -- including DirecTV and Time Warner -- and struggled to expand its wireless business.

Just being a laborer? Hahahahahaha,
I was just a "laborer" for 36 years.
Line crew, installer/repair, cable repair, specials.
Traveled the country do "labor" type work. Made a lot of $$$$.
Between the pension and 401K walked away with well in to 7 figures.
Retired at 54 with health insurance, life insurance, and they pay 90% of my medical.
You'll never even sniff that.

I would disclose what I was hired to do and what it is that I do now, but, "You'll never even be able to sniff that!" LOL!

1 year is not long enough time for AT&T to change. It will take them a year to come up with a plan and get it documented on some sort of playbook/roadmap. Then another year to execute this so call gameplan. Just when you think it's all rolled out, it will be time to change again. Wash, rinse and repeat is the AT&T way, and they wonder why the business in not growing.

"And I'm being paid to do a job I wasn't ever hired to do. T could no longer use my skills to do what I was hired to do, so they now have me doing unskilled work as an installer. No skillset required to do this work, just patience. The pay is the same, but the work is just being a laborer."

And curious as to what you are installing that is "unskilled" and what you were hired to do that was skilled.

T will have a lighter bank account with these I D I O T S in the BoD and the Stink still in charge.

Stink's bank account will be a lot fuller!

In 1 year ATT will be exactly how it is today but with fewer employees. Customer base is waiting for fiber, but they're not going to pay enough for us to get a fast ROI. Until the capital expense for the fiber build out is recouped, we'll have to get by with a lot less mouths to feed.

I think in 1 year things will be much better and heading in the right direction.

IN 1 year AT&T will still have million of customers running to the post office to mail in their monthly money. Dividends will settle, investors will be happy. Revenues will climb, profits will climb, debt will be reduced, They will be just fine. I think Johns on the right track for todays environment, going back to the core business, as VZ and others have done. Quit the businesses you don't have expertise in.

Ever since Zane Barnes' retirement - the new T aka SBC has never employed leadership. T needed to plow in fiber and HS internet in the 1980's and were decades late to the game. They begrudginly grew mobile and replaced mechanical switches with digital when they should have been exploiting voip. Late to the game. Late to the party. Slow to adapt. They wasted billions buying Directv, a dying business while the rest of us streamed, they should have bought Netflix but were shortsighted and what made them think TW was a buy is incredible. Then when Stink started firing, demanding, playing studio exec at TW was just stupid. I could outline a plan to prosperity for this company but why bother as the Stink and his social promotee's know everything and wouldn't listen. They are there to pad their wallets as long as they can and will run this company into bankrupsy or a buyout for pennies on the dollar.

Working at T is like being part of the band playing on the deck of the Titanic.

When T bought DirecTv we were told it was a necessity, then we needed Warner.
The C-Suite saw the decline in the business without video. We no longer have video, so what’s next- more decline. Fiber and 5G are not enough to sustain the business as it is today.
T will sell everything it can, remove as many employees as possible to off-shore work and automate any function it can.
Maybe in three years the stock reverses the trend.
