Many say that this tempo of layoffs is nothing compared to what might come in 2023. Some even claim that big restructure could be on the way at that time. I get that it has never been a moment of peace at this company, but why I don’t get it is how could the leadership be confident to go ahead with major layoffs with so many people leaving on their own. Do they really think they will replace the people that left or are going to leave with cheaper alternatives or do they simply not care?

over time petrotechs will be less needed as the shift to new energies grows. like any company - the org capability needs to evolve to support the business. upgrade your skills to stay relevant and survive future layoffs.
If the company has a major layoff in this price environment, then that would be a huge vote of no confidence in the future of the company. Investors would surely get that message.
We are all creatures of habit, and react to rewards. MW has been laying off people and downsizing since 2010. Each layoff, he is rewarded with another promotion and more stock options. Why would he change now?
What credible insights do you have that layoffs are coming in 2023?
Some a--hat is always starting rumors of another layoff just to get attention and scare people. There is no evidence that it is true.
Uh oh someone didn't pass the layoff rehab!
Chevron, like all oil companies, is in a long term decline due to the green transition. Chevron management embraces this, so it is a self-fulfilling prophesy. They will tell you of all their grand plans, but the reality is to spin down the oil side of the company until nothing is left. If your only skill is oil related, then yes, a layoff or severance is in your future. It’s not a question of if, but when.
MW truly believes that anybody (other than high pots and EVPs), regardless of experience or caliber, can be replaced by some college hire.
Hope so. Lots of useless people still on the payroll.
MWs fantasy is to have Chevron be nothing more than executives, high-pots, and computers doing the work the peons do now.

MW is a bell end!
MW and Cramer are having some kind of affair with how often they both have love fests with each other. MW should write about his love of layoffs to boost dividends since he knows that topic it very very well. He can't stand how these peasants keep getting in the way of boosting dividends and buys a 4th yacht.
People are out most important asset is a load of cr-p! Expect a layoff! And Wait to see how you are treated as you exit the company after 40 years! No degree of respect! Leadership don’t care about people, only stockholders and Cramer! It’s why everyone should find their exit job! And be happy!!
what are you talking about?? I see hiring coming our way, not layoffs.
Mikey must be getting the shakes. Needs to have some layoffs fast!

MW has a major layoff addiction. For some reason he seems to crave it and just can't get enough. He last fix destroyed the moral of his company and has caused all this attrition. If he tries it again there will be nothing left. I can't tell you if a major reorg hidden in some fancy code word is announced im out of here. I won't go through that again.
