Noncompete Clause from Covid RIF

I need some assistance. For those in the Covid RIF of 2020, does a noncompete apply until summer of 2022? Please share your experience. I have worked in other industries not in aero since that time and I want to go back to aero. Thanks!

I read it more as you can't share HON specific information. Also, if aerospace is your lively hood...they can't take that from you.

Take a closer look at section 11 on the IP agreement. It says "for the period of two years immediately following the end of my employment by Honeywell..." If you're about to accept an offer from a new employer and you are still employed with Honeywell, you don't have to inform the new employer of the existence of the agreement. Section 15 says that if reasonably requested by Honeywell, you will advise Honeywell of the name and address of an intended future employer. Asking for your private employment information is not reasonable, especially if the employer requires that you keep if confidential. So, no worries.

Don't reveal you are under non compete to the new employer, couple of interviews did not go through when I was upfront. As others have mentioned, HON won't go after you, but it sure is a red flag to another employer

The odds that they will try to enforce it is zearly zero. The odds they could actually win a case is nearly zero.

IF they found out that you went to work for a competitor, AND you were still collecting severance, they COULD cut you off. They probably wouldn't because it's not worth the effort as that expense is already accounted for. Nothing at all to worry about after your severance ends.

OP is saying they want to return to the aero industry, not to HON Aero.

Non-compete means nothing. It's a last ditch effort to control you and harm your life. Dont take the bait and do whats best for you.

Don't go back to Aero. There is nothing left. Go somewhere else where talent is valued and the culture is properly funded and encouraged to innovate.

Ignore and take any job you want. Only matters for execs and even then not really.

Why do you want to go back to Hon Aero?

Don't worry about it and it does not apply to you as long as you don't share any Honeywell intellectual properties with your new employer. I was RIF'd from Honeywell in 2020 and started a new job with a competitor two months later while still on severance pay. I never had an issue with it.

Many folks went straight to a competitor after being RIF'ed. No need to be so principled...HW sure isn't!
